Notice

Unlike the traditional face-to-face

classroom environment, online or virtual environment is a bit
difficult to manage. It is because Virtual Learning Environment
(VLE) is imaginary and not in the physical sense. It has no
concerns or walls and it can be set up with the support of
technology.

As a teacher, what have you discovered to be easy to

implement in your virtual class?

____As a teacher we discovered to be easy to implement in the

virtual class is using visual aids and interactive tools like for
example programs for video conferencing digital whiteboards and
other platforms. Giving students access to instructional materials
that they need to complete their work can be easy to implement in
a virtual class. It is now easy to share and show presentations to
the class while discussing. This can also be done by sharing the
screen or using presentation software. There are many online
resources available for teachers to use in their virtual classes.
These resources can include lesson plans, videos, and interactive
activities.

How did the students show their active participation in the lesson?

While we are observing during the online class the students

show their active participation in the lesson by opening their
camera while their teacher is discussing their lessons. Opening
their camera, the teacher will observe them wether they are
listening attentively. Also, the students show their active
participation in the lesson through participating in the recitation
and I observed that many of the students raising their hands to
recite which is good to participate actively in the lesson however
not all of them opening their camera and not reciting.
ANALYZE

Which is the following is/are your analysis/ analyses of on-line learning environment?
Check one or more.

___/___ It was difficult to observe the physical behavior of the students.

______ It takes time for students to learn how to use the platform.
______ Students who are alone in their home space find difficulty to make responses.
__ /___ Internet connectivity is a great factor to support a conducive environment.

REFLECT

As a future teacher I feel that the on-line learning environment can be safe if I know how
to be manage the privacy and the security of the learners. As an observer in an online
class, I discovered that online classes are difficult to manage, but establishing rules and
controls can help. For example, recording students’ participation and using synchronous
and asynchronous activities can help manage the class which is the one we used in our
previous classes and also recently they still implementing now in their school
classroom. It is important also to define online safety for students so they can
understand what to avoid or report when doing online work for class. This knowledge
gives students what they need to build responsible online behaviors for the future.

I think that teaching in a virtual learning environment is a different learning experience

that is integrated within the curriculum and is specifically designed to be experienced
online. It can be fun and engaging for students if teachers apply best practices for
creating a fun virtual learning environment. Teaching in a virtual learning environment
can be a different but effective way of delivering education. We pre service teachers
need to be trained in virtual learning as a pedagogical approach, and best practices for
creating a fun virtual learning environment should be applied. Virtual learning
environments can be collaborative and enhance students’ learning experiences.
Write Action Research Prompts

1. OBSERVE
As we observe during the online class, that most of the students are
actively participate in the discussion but some students are not giving
response or feedback like when the recitation there is a student not
responding when they call their name.

2. REFLECT

I was thinking that maybe the students are not joining attentively
because maybe the internet connection is poor. Also, when having the
online classes some have their disturbances situation.

3. PLAN

Telling to the students to minimize distractions, try to eliminate or

minimize any potential distractions in the environment. For example, turn
off your phone or put it on silent mode, close any unnecessary tabs On
your computer, and find a quiet place to participate in the classroom.
Setting rules and regulations.

4. ACT
As we do action together with my group mates if we are to do our
action research and connected with this, we can Identify the source of the
disturbance and take appropriate action based on the severity of the issue.
For example, if a student is being disruptive, the instructor can ask them to
stop the behavior and remind them of the classroom rules
