Installation
This section describes the procedures for installing the Bottom Flying Probe Kit on the tester.
Followings are all tools necessary for your operation described in this section.

WARNING
Make sure that the tester is powered off and unplugged before starting your operation. Otherwise
it could possibly cause bodily injury or mechanical trouble.

To avoid potential puncture hazard, be sure to pull probe pin out of Probe1~4 prior to your
operation.

Following jobs must be done with 3 persons or more!


1) Dismount & install of Exterior covers
2) Dismount of PCB holder unit
3) Install of Bottom flying probe unit

§1. PCB holder unit

CAUTION
Please don’t lose the Exterior covers and Screws after removed from the tester, because they will be
used later.

1-1. Quit the APT system and power off the tester, and then unplug the power cable.
1-2. Take following steps to remove the Exterior cover F.
(NOTE) Pay attention not to scratch the Exterior cover F during the process.

CAUTION
If the tester has the serial number which is “076” or smaller at the last three digits, go through the following
steps to remove the Exterior cover F.

A-1. Trace the outline of two Cover switches installed of the Safe cover using a pencil, in order to
remember where their places were. (Refer to Fig.1-1)
(NOTE) Be sure to conduct it at both the left and the right side of the Safe cover.
A-2. Remove the two Cover switches from the Tester. (Refer to Fig.1-1)
A-3. Unplug Connector cables from the Tester terminals. (Refer to Fig.1-2,3)

A-6. Draw the Exterior cover F near to the position as illustrated in Fig.1-4. Then remove the left side of the
cover while pulling it toward “Arrow-1”. (Refer to Fig.1-4,5)
A-7. Take the Exterior cover out of the tester while pushing it toward “Arrow-2”. (Refer to Fig.1-5)

CAUTION
If the tester has the serial number which is “077” or bigger at the last three digits, go through the following
steps to remove the Exterior cover F.

B-1. Detach the trim from Cover F brackets which lie on either side of the Exterior cover F. (Refer to Fig.
1-6)

1-3. Remove all Exterior covers (x 12pcs) indicated in Fig.1-9.
(NOTE) Some Exterior covers are wired to the switches, so please pull out the connectors carefully.
The operation to remove the Exterior covers must be done by three personnel or more.

1-4. Pull Connector cable (CL-TOP) out of the PCB (TVX-36S) below. (Refer to Fig.1-10)
(NOTE) The Connector cable (CL-TOP) is also wired to the sensor at the Clamp lever unit, so please pull the
cable out of it during the process below.

1-5. Set the Clamp lever for the RELEASE position. (Refer to Fig.1-11)
1-6. Remove Springs and spring hooks. (Refer to Fig.1-11)
1-7. Unscrew Hexagon socket head c.screws (x 6pcs) to take the Clamp lever unit out of the tester.
(NOTE) The removed parts will be unused.

1-8. Detach the PCB cover and pull two connector cables for the Bottom probes out of the PCB. (Refer to
Fig.1-12)
(NOTE) The Parts marked with asterisk (*) at the forehead will be used later.

1-9. Remove two Earth cables (PCB holder unit ~ Desk) from the desk. (Refer to Fig.1-13)
(NOTE) The removed earth cables will be unused.

1-10. Pull Connector cables (x 8) out of the PCBs. (Refer to Fig.1-13)

1-11. Remove the PCB bracket ASSY from the tester. (Refer to Fig.1-13)
(NOTE) The PCB bracket ASSY will be used later.

§2. Desk unit
2-1. Take the PCBs (TVX-32 L1,L2) and Spaces out of the PCB bracket ASSY. (Refer to Fig.1-13,2-1)
(NOTE) The removed PCBs (TVX-32 L1, L2) will be unused.
The PCB bracket ASSY and spacers will be used later.

2-6. Install PCU rack (NEW) to the position where the old PCU rack was installed. (Refer to Fig.2-5)

IMPORTANT
Pay much attention to the parallelism of two connectors below when the new PCU rack is installed.
If the PCBs are not installed correctly, they maybe loose out of the connectors and cause the malfunction.
(NOTE) The connector position is visible from the desk side.

IMPORTANT
Make sure that DIP SW1,2 on the PCBs (TAKAYA TVX-09P) to be installed in Slot 1,2 have following
configuration.

Only in the case of installing “Moving Bottom Probe Cancel Plate”, No.1 of DIP SW2 on the PCB to be
installed in Slot 1 must be set to OFF position. (Refer to the Work Procedure Instruction Sheet for the
Moving Bottom Probe Cancel Plate)

Three PCBs are installed in the new PCU rack at delivery (See Process #2-7). But as there is a chance
that some were loose out of the connectors in transit, please pull them out and push back again just in
case.

2-7. Install the PCBs which were removed at Process #2-4 in the PCU rack again.(Refer to Fig.2-6)

1. Insert the cable into the terminal. (Refer to Fig.A)
2. Insert your precision screwdriver into the terminal. (Refer to Fig.B)
3. Set up the Precision screwdriver toward the arrow so that the cable is fixed there. (Refer to Fig.C)
4. Make sure that the cable is not pulled out easily.

IMPORTANT
Make sure that there is no loose connection of the connectors at the Motor drivers.
Especially for the connectors shown below, check them with the greatest care!

These connectors are apt to disconnect


due to vibration in transit.

Be sure to keep pushing the Bottom flying probe unit against the Set jig F during the adjustment.
In addition, don’t move Probe 4 in the X-direction.

§6. Adjustment & verification

6-1. Power on the tester and go through the following steps to check the sensors.

6-2. Install the APT-9600 system (NEW No.6-1).

CAUTION
Move to the Sensor check menu as soon as you started up the APT-9600 system. In addition, make sure
not to have the probes back to the Home position by the Reset SW until Process #6-8 was complete.

6-3. Boot the APT-9600 system.


6-4. Open the Sensor check menu to check followings. (Refer to Fig.6-2)

Sensor Verification
Move each arm by the hand. The sensor
X,Y,Z,IC sensor should turn on when the cover plate goes in
the sensor.
Push the Manual switch on the Valve to
Clamper upper
move the PCB holder up to check that it
end sensor
turns on.
Push the Manual switch on the Valve to
Clamper lower
move the PCB holder down to check that
end sensor
it turns on.

6-5. Choose Self-diagnosis menu > Special Switches. (Refer to Fig.6-3)


6-6. Push the Operation panel SWs to check that each lamp on the menu turns on correctly. (Refer to
Fig.6-4)

6-7. Go back to Main menu and push the Operation panel SWs to check that each mechanical part moves
correctly. (Refer to Fig.6-5)

6-8. Press the Reset SW to have the probes back to the Home position.

6-9. Install the PCB cover to the PCB bracket. (Refer to Fig.6-6)

6-10. Install the rest of Exterior covers that were removed at Process #1-3. (Refer to Fig.1-9)

6-11. Install the Probe pin (NEW No.6-3), Probe socket (NEW No.6-4) and Probe wire (NEW No.6-5) to the
Probe 5, 6. (Refer to the APT-9600 Operator’s guide)

6-12. Install the Sensor probe (NEW No.6-6) to the CS block. (Refer to the APT-9600 Operator’s guide)

6-13. Install the Probe pin to the Probe 1~4.

6-14. Set the Machine Ref. Point again. (Refer to the APT-9600 Operator’s guide)

6-15. Adjust the Camera Gain. (Refer to the CCD Gain Adjust [Bottom flying probe kit]

6-16. All that you need to do finish!
