DISCUSS THE FOLOWING QUESTIONS ACCORDING TO YOUR OWN

CONCEPTS IN ONE PARAGRAPH EACH TOPIC:

1. WHY PEACE EDUCATION IS RELEVANT TO YOUR FIELD AS A CLASSROOM

TEACHER? IDENTIFY YOUR REASONS.
As an educator I truly believed that we need to incorporate peace education in our
classroom. It is very relevant in our field as classroom teachers especially in
 promoting healthy relationships and a peaceful school culture
 addressing structural and cultural violence within schools
 taking account of the way education is delivered in the classroom
 connecting peace education approaches focused on the individual as well as
wider socio-political outcomes
 connecting peace education within schools to wider community practices and
non-formal actors, such as nongovernmental organizations and civil society
organizations
 where possible having education policies and legislation that support peace
education to achieve full integration into formal school settings

2. WHAT ARE YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS TOWARDS PEACE EDUCATION IN YOUR

SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT? WHY AND JUSTIFY YOUR ANSWERS.

Teachers have to identify many effective strategies and practices that could
transform the school into a place of peace and harmony. Taking the national level into
consideration, a school has to focus on the current citizenship education needs of the
nation or the country.
3. HOW DO YOU APPLY PEACE EDUCATION THAT IS PRACTICAL
ALTERNATIVE IN YOUR DAILY ACTIVITIES IN YOUR WORKPLACE
ENVIRONMENT? GIVE YOUR OWN VIEWS.
It is our responsibility as educators to promote peace within our classrooms. Peace
education starts the moment the child walks through your door on the first day of school,
and should be presented in almost every work and lesson all throughout the year.
1. Care of Environment, Self, and Others
– Children understand the importance of peace by learning to care for their
classroom environment, as well as others around them. They want to be involved
in work that is meaningful and has a specific purpose; work that allows them to
be a beneficial member of the community.
2. “No Bullying” Policy
– Of course it goes without saying that your school should have a strict no-
tolerance policy against bullying. Teach children how to verbally resolve their
conflicts, rather than acting on impulse and physically hurting another friend. We
use kind words and gestures in the classroom, and never emotionally
hurt another friend by calling them names.
3. Respect for Diversity
– In our school community, we embrace a mutual respect for diversity, as well as
a variety of cultural and international holidays. If we teach this same respect to
children when they are young, they will grow to have a deeper appreciation and
understanding of all cultures
4. WHEN DO YOU APPLY PEACE EDUCATION AS AN ETHICAL IMPERATIVE
IN THE CLASSROOM SITUATIONS AND WHAT MAKES IT NECESSARY TO
TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS? SUPPORT YOUR ANSWERS
Educating for peace is an ethical imperative considering the negation of life and well-
being caused by all forms of violence. The ethical system of a major world faith tradition,
humanitarian ethics and even primal and indigenous spirituality have articulated principles that
striving for peace. “Peace education, or an education that promotes a culture of peace, is
essentially transformative. It cultivates the knowledge base, skills, attitudes and values that seek
to transform people's mindsets, attitudes and behaviors that, in the first place, have either
created or exacerbated violent conflicts.
