No Need for Internet Signal Jamming for Security
Operations of Dinagyang 2024

Introduction:

Dinagyang is a vibrant and culturally rich festival celebrated annually in Iloilo City, Philippines.
With its growing popularity and increasing attendance, it is essential to prioritize the safety and
security of both participants and spectators.
Internet signal jamming is a technique used to disrupt communication between devices that rely
on a wireless connection. This technique is often used in security operations to prevent
unauthorized access to sensitive information or to prevent hacking attempts. However, experts
argue that there is no need for internet signal jamming to be used in security operations as it can
cause more harm than good. In this research, we will explore the reasons why internet signal
jamming is not necessary for security operations during the Dinagyang 2024.
Internet signal jamming may not be necessary for security operations during the Dinagyang
Festival in 2024 for several reasons:
1. Communication: Internet connectivity is crucial for effective communication during
security operations. It allows law enforcement agencies, emergency responders, and
event organizers to share vital information, coordinate their efforts, and respond swiftly
to any incidents. Disrupting the internet signal could hinder their ability to communicate
efficiently.

2. Real-time monitoring: With the rise of smart surveillance systems and real-time
monitoring technologies, internet connectivity enables authorities to closely monitor the
festival grounds, identify potential security threats, and take immediate action. Cutting
off the internet signal would impede their ability to monitor the event effectively.

3. Emergency services: In case of emergencies or medical incidents during the festival,

emergency services rely on internet connectivity to quickly access important information,
communicate with each other, and provide necessary aid. Jamming the internet signal
could delay their response time and put lives at risk.

4. Crowd management: Internet connectivity allows event organizers and security personnel
to implement crowd management strategies more effectively. They can monitor crowd
movements, control access points, and ensure the safety of attendees. Without internet
signal, crowd management efforts may become less efficient and potentially lead to
safety concerns.
5. Public perception: Jamming internet signals can cause inconvenience and frustration
among festival attendees who rely on internet access for various reasons, such as staying
connected with their group, accessing festival-related information, or using navigation
apps. This can negatively impact the overall experience and perception of the event.

While there may be specific scenarios where temporarily disrupting the internet signal could be
considered for security reasons, it should be approached with caution and only implemented
when absolutely necessary.
