Report on Extra-Curricular activities done as a part of

EXC1054 – The Art and Skill of Photography

Outcome from this course for me:

Through this course, I have learnt a lot of things about Photography,

Videography and Editing, right from scratch. Right from the basics of
photography to industry level cinematography was taught in this course which
helped me a lot to learn and experiment.

Description of the Activities done/Events attended:

1. Orientation: Club objectives were discussed with all the EXC students enrolled,
where they were told about the curriculum, how to register for the event.

2. Introduction to Photography: The basics of photography were taught in the

session. What is Aperture, ISO and Shutter Speed and how to control them
Manually.

3. Playing With rules: This session was all about the rules of composition of a
photo like rule of thirds, leading lines etc.

4. Introduction to Architectural Photography: In this session I have learnt

about what lenses to use for architectural photography, how to compose a
photo of architectural sites, how rules of composition help in architectural
photography.

5. Macro Photography: This session was very interesting as this session was
about the different style of photography – macro. Had gained a lot of
 information about how to capture macro shots using mobile phones and some
accessories with them.

6. Black and White photography: In this session, I have learnt about the
difference between colour and black and white images and how a b/w image
can get an impact to the image in terms of storytelling.

7. Product Photography: In this session, the instructor has taught about how to
use lights for product photography and how to use the equipment when
shooting products. This session included long exposures, external lights and
other information about product shoots.

8. Focus and Flash Trivia :This was a quiz on photography questions on the Instagram
page of the club. This was very insightful as I Have learnt somethings which I
didn’t know before.

9. Bird Photography: This session was split into 2 parts and was quite
fascinating as the speaker was telling about how to spot different birds and the
equipment to use to capture birds.

10. Focus and Flash Trivia 3.0:This was a quiz on photography questions on the
Instagram page of the club.

11. Bird Photography: This is the continuation of the first part of bird
photography where the speaker has shown some places where he spots birds
near VIT.
