INT. OFFICE. DAY. THE RESTURANT. Carmen and Sugar are sat on
the resturant office floor searching through files for the
missing payroll accounts.

CARMEN
Hey, Sugar, maybe it's not here.

SUGAR
No, it's here.

CARMY
All right.

Carmen opens the desk draw and under some files finds an
almost empty bottle of pills. Sugar and Carmen share a
meaningful look.

SUGAR
I knew it was dumb to co-sign, FYI.

CARMY
I would've done the same thing.
You wanna fight?

SUGAR
Please.

CARMEN
I know you're mad at me.

SUGAR
This is just irresponsible.

CARMEN
No, no, no, no. I mean, at your
house, all that stuff you said.

SUGAR
I was annoyed.

CARMEN
Yeah, clearly.

SUGAR
Ah, look, I think the thing that
just pisses me off, is, is the
thing that I'm probably too
embarrassed to admit. Is that you
never ask me how I'm doing. Like
ever. (Sighs) I know it's childish,
but... that's why I'm mad at you...

2.

SUGAR (CONT'D)
I think. Plus, we never spend any
real time together. This place is
eating you alive, you know.

CARMEN
You always blame this place.

SUGAR
What do you mean?

CARMY
I mean, you blame the restaurant,
right? You don't blame Mom, you
don't blame Mikey.

SUGAR
How can I not blame this place? I
just cleaned up shot-out glass and
now I'm covered in carbon. All of
our time, money, work, gets sucked
up into this place. The only thing
we get back is chaos, resentment.
(Beat)
It's bullshit.

CARMEN
Sounds like Mom.

SUGAR
I'm serious.

CARMEN
I'm serious.

SUGAR
I just want things to be calm. I
just want things to be on solid
ground. I-I-I want things to
feel...

CARMEN
Consistent.

SUGAR
Yeah, consistent.

CARMY
Yeah. That's totally reasonable.

SUGAR
I appreciate you saying that.
3.

CARMY
Um... I guess all the time I feel
like I'm kind of trapped because I
can't describe... how I'm feeling.
So to ask somebody else how they're
feeling, that just seems, uh... I
don't know, insane?

SUGAR
(Laughs)
Okay.

CARMEN
But I'm sorry, you know, you're
um... you're right. I wanna know
how you're feeling.
(BEAT)
How are you feeling?

SUGAR
(Laughs)
Really good. Just great.

CARMEN
Right.
(Exhales)

Almost for something to do Carmen turns to a pile of

documents and searches again. He opens a file. He reads
suddenley interested.

CARMEN (CONT'D)
Yo. Yo, is this it?

SUGAR
Uh... Y-Yeah. Yeah. Right? Yeah.

CARMEN
Just, uh... sitting in this file
labeled...

BOTH
(Both reading)
‘Shit’.
