Laptop: positive and negative effects in a globalized world

In these years we depend a lot on technology time in all areas because it has become part of
our lives. Therefore, it is not strange to know that the tool that people use to work or study is
the laptop. But did you know that this device can have long-term positive and negative effects?
I will mention some of them here.

Firstly, the negative effect is that people become distracted by social media and do not
concentrate on work. Notifications and some entertainment platforms mean that we are not
focused on the objective or goals of the day at work or school. According to the latest Aptitus
survey, 70% of workers in Peru have access to social networks in their current job and 30%
have it prohibited or blocked.

Another common negative effect is the physical pain when people spend many hours a day in
front of the laptop, whether working, studying, playing, or doing any other activity. There are
many doctors who warn about this problem, it has even been pointed out that maintaining this
posture for five consecutive years would have very serious consequences for our health and
among the most common symptoms we find: back pain, dry eyes, palm or wrist tendonitis,
vision problems, contractures, obesity, fluid retention and neck pain. Office workers would be
the most likely to suffer from these problems and their injuries could cause severe disorders.

On the other hand, a positive effect is the people take their work to any part of the world. The
laptop allows us to enjoy more free places on the desk, which will give you a better view and
give a spacious touch. We can also count among their great benefits the fact that they weigh
little and will not be difficult to move so we can work with it from anywhere.

In conclusion, the impact in positive or negative way of the laptop in our lives depending on
how much time you use it and what for. We must be conscious of being productive with each
electronic device we use and not spend hours exposing our physical and mental health. To
avoid creating a dependency that will also affect our relationship with other people and
ourselves.
