1. How did the development of information communication technology affect your life today?
Relate your discussion with your personal experience/s.

ICT has a great impact in my life today. ICT has become an integral part of everyday life for many
people. It increases its importance in people’s lives and it is expected that this trend will continue, to the
extent that ICT literacy will become a functional requirement for people’s work, social, and personal
lives.

In my personal experience, for this time, where we are suffering from this pandemic, with the
use of ICT, I can continue with my life but with the “new normal” concept. With the help of ICT, I can
check and communicate with my loved ones and family out there whether they are safe and in good
condition. With the development of ICT, Online Classes are available and it continues my education even
the pandemic was still affecting our current condition. Even if I am not in school and having a face to
face interaction with my professors. I can still learn and gain new knowledge through this developments
of information communication technology.

2. How did the personal computer change the course of human life today? What is your idea
about technology? Cite instances in your explanation.

Computers have changed the world in many ways.  They allow huge amounts of information to
be stored in a small space.  They also allow a person to calculate mathematical problems with ease. 
Computers were first designed to help a person calculate numbers; this function can be seen as far back
as 2000 B.C. with the use of the abacus. Modern computers are simply very advanced calculators. To
conclude, computers have changed our life beyond imagination and continue to play important role on
human life and behaviours. It provides advanced facilities for our life and also create effective learning,
production, control and utilization.

With that said facts and information, I can say that the idea about technology for me was
something, anything maybe mechanical or automotive that’s its sole purpose is for DEVELOPMENT of
human life. Development, these developments leads to discoveries, in fields of research, medicine and
industrialization just like the discoveries vaccines, medicines, and materials that are needed in
constructions. Because of these of these innovations lead by developments in such fields, it resulted in
betterment of our life, efficiency on daily things we do and greatly affects on how we lived today.

3. With the advent of technological advancement and innovation, what are other technologies that
can possibly be developed in the future? Will it be beneficial or destructive?

With the recent discoveries and breakthrough in Science and Technology I can say it is now
possible in the future the development of AI Technology or Artificial Intelligence. Artificial intelligence
(AI) makes it possible for machines to learn from experience, adjust to new inputs and perform human-
like tasks. Most AI examples that you hear about today – from chess-playing computers to self-driving
cars – rely heavily on deep learning and natural language processing. Using these technologies,
computers can be trained to accomplish specific tasks by processing large amounts of data and
recognizing patterns in the data.

I expect in the future that this AI Technology would be so beneficial for us IF and ONLY we use it
properly. In general, artificial intelligence is going to change almost every aspect of daily life. While we
will look for ways to make use of it in the home, AI will also be adopted by local and state governments,
as well as by the business sector. Before long, there will be few things unaffected by AI technology.
Especially in the Medical Field. Right now this pandemic surely AI will be so much beneficial for us.
Research is already underway to develop new software applications that use AI to help doctors diagnose
and treat patients. It won’t be long before wearable devices can measure blood sugar levels for diabetics
and transmit that data to the patient’s doctor. Already, devices are in use that measure heart rate,
respiration, and other vital functions. Artificial intelligence may also help patients better understand
their care options and communicate more effectively with their caregivers.

4. As a student, how did you use the social media? What are the possible risks of spreading false
information?

As a student I use social media for extracting facts and information that are relevant and true. I
also use social media for sharing positivity by sharing my achievements and happy moments in my life
and also to communicate with my family, loved ones, and friends. It will help me to keep in touch on
them especially in this time. Fake news has become a popular term these days.

At a time when the world is suffering from a major health crisis, this is not the time to ignore
the problems that disinformation and misinformation cause. You understand by now that fake news
and other types of false information can take on different faces. Fake news is quickly becoming an
epidemic, and as a public relations professional it scares and angers me how often and how quickly
completely fabricated stories circulate. The illusory effect: the fact that if a lie is repeated enough
times, you’ll begin to believe it’s true. The impact on the PR profession. The goal of the media relations
function of public relations is to share stories with reporters to get them to publish accurate information
to influence others to care and act. We do our jobs with integrity, report only the facts, and run press
materials through legal departments to ensure we’re never overstating or misrepresenting any claims or
information. So, if we’re held to a higher standard of reporting, it’s unfair that others can publish
completely false information. Finally, it’s the effect that fake news has on consumers’ views of news
media. With so much false information, consumers are skeptical and it erodes the trust they should
have in the media.

5. What will happen to the Filipinos if social media will be deactivated or banned? What could
possibly happen to you?

It will really affects our daily lives. We all knew that we Filipinos are the no. 1 consumer in terms
of social media usage. We all like to use all the social media platforms available in our mobile phones
and internet. It will affect our communication with each other, we will not be as always as in touch with
our relatives and friends out there. We will be missing the online interaction we are already enjoying in
social media platforms. Also some online shops that really rely on social media for its business
operations will be affected and will be devastated.

For me, I will be less happy as before because social media also relieved my stress with whole
day of activities by watching funny videos, video streaming and chatting with my friends. It will greatly
affects my communication towards my family and friends where I cannot easily reach them unlike
before just using Messenger app, it is just one send away especially when there is emergency. My
sources of information would be limited because there are also a lot of reliable sources that can be
found in social media platforms.

6. Try to imagine your life without technology, how do you think your life would be? Discuss your
answer with your seatmate and take note of the commonalities of your answers.

Yes, of course you can. Find yourself a ready-made dwelling like a cave, and eat raw whatever
you can catch. Life won’t be very nice, but I’m sure it’s possible. Sure, but you would be missing out on
so many things we simply take for granted, like clean water, refuse and sewage removal, butchered
meat, disease-free vegetables and fruits, food delivered to a purchasing place, clothing and shelter and
contact with other human beings. Definitely different. Phone was never the first thing to be checked
immediately after waking up. We had ample amount of time for each and every thing in life, time to
study, play, sit around family and talk in the evenings. I would not be addicted to games and stuff in the
internet. I would be more engage in social and physical activities especially we have a farm manage by
my father. There will be no more stress brought by social media. We cannot see new things or new
discoveries easily just like before. Communication with my friends and family would be done through
physical contact only,

I can say that world without technology is unthinkable. Technology plays a vital role in every
sphere of life. Due to invention of mobile phone, we can call our friends, relatives and parents, no
matter where they are. Thus, communication as well as coordination between our near and dear ones
are maintained. Also we can communicate with foreign people and organizations, which is very
important for the prosperity of our country.
