Is technology an addiction or is it simply an improvement for our society?

People depend so much on their devices, that it has been proven according to a
survey, people can not live without technology even for a day. These technologies
are essential for many businesses and sectors to run and produce quality products.
Individuals are so addicted to devices that they prefer texting on social media rather
than face-to-face communication. Their relationships with friends, and family and
their mental health are impacted by this. Technology has an impact on how people
communicate, learn, and think.

According to research, dependence on technology is just as harmful as dependence

on alcohol or drugs. The most significant positive feature of technology is
simultaneously its primarily negative. When one can communicate with people
around the world, there is a wonder that transcends any one person. Nevertheless,
what is harming us is our inability to forge genuine connections with others. Do we
think we know about the trends, celebrities and “friends” we connect with whom we
regularly follow? Although technology can provide an ongoing simulation and the
interrelations between strangers, this can still be dangerous. The vastness of the
internet is incredibly fascinating, but it can also be a harmful situation. There are
many individuals there, but not all have the right intentions. All we have to do is
simply tap our phones to observe this.

Obviously, age limitations are a significant issue with technology use. Compared to
alcohol or drugs, is there truly a difference between technology and those
substances? All of them have restrictions because they can cause someone to lose
their lives and sense of self when they start to develop an addiction. This leaves
everyone wondering why there are no age restrictions on these devices. Why should
we allow technology to consume us, our friends and the youth also after being
proven to be associated with suicide and depression? Remember that the design of
video games, social media platforms, and the internet encourages reliance on
technology, which has detrimental consequences for both adults and children. Yet
technology addiction can be treated by substituting time spent online with
constructive activities that reduce stress, foster healthy relationships and learn more.

Furthermore, addiction to computers and mobile devices is primarily brought on via

the internet. It was first designed as a tool to aid people in their hunt for knowledge
and data, but when people began abusing the internet, addiction developed. Using
their mobile devices, people began to spend countless hours viewing and browsing
the internet. Because of their constant use of devices, even children need to wear
glasses.
With movements like the LGBTQ+ community, and equality people can gain
knowledge about such topics to form connections. People can find genuine
inspiration through the use of technology and get involved with a cause that matters
to them. The internet helps people develop positive self-concepts and a sense of
worth. Nonetheless, the negative is equally as common as the positive. Trolls,
predators of women and young children and catfishing. Unfortunately, the negative
side exists.

On the other hand, the way we converse globally has been changed by technology
in society in another way. There are many new ways to communicate electronically
thanks to technology. Emails, social networking, facetime with someone on the other
side of the planet, and video conferencing, where you may hold conferences online,
are a few examples. Last but not least, technical developments in the health sector
have contributed to people's continued safety and health. Several cutting-edge
mobile applications allow users to monitor their weight, caloric consumption, heart
rate, and other health indicators at any moment of the day. More options are more
easily accessible, changes in healthcare that favour the elderly, and hospitals that
use cutting-edge technology in their operating rooms.

Regardless the way that technology influences education is one area where it has
had a significant impact on society. Learning has become more interactive and
collaborative, which has improved how well people interact with the content they are
studying and finding difficult. Also, it gives you improved access to resources.

Since the invention of the internet and technology, we have had constant access to
information, and you can find nearly anything online. Also, it simplifies the process
for students to do their tasks. Quizzes and exams can be taken by students more
easily, and teachers may hold productive classes online. Additionally, it broadens the
confines of the classroom and promotes self-paced learning. YouTube and social
media are two places where people can get an education. Compared to attending
lectures and reading from textbooks, this aids students in learning more effectively.
Learning has become more convenient and enjoyable thanks to technological
improvements.

Overall, there is also a loss of privacy due to the fact that anyone can find you at any
time, anywhere. Using filters on social media platforms like Snapchat and Instagram,
we construct our sense of self. Everyone simply accompanies the constant change
in this environment, never establishing self-perception constancy. With these tools,
we do construct our self-image, which frequently proves to be unreal and results in
shifted expectations regarding our appearances. It may also prevent you from doing
your homework. You realise that you don’t have enough time for yourself because
you are continuously communicating with someone. Communication and
interpersonal interactions may be hampered by mobile technologies. Otherwise, the
addiction could have negative implications on relationships, employment, and
cognitive function.
