Introdução

Technological change in our life is a continuous thing. Over the period of time, new
technology is emerging and our lifestyle is becoming affected by that. Recently, society is
facing modern technology and it has made life different compared to the last decades. In
every case of our life, the touch of technology has the presence. Technology helps human
beings do new things or do something smoothly in their day-to-day life. The effects of
technology are present in every sector of human life like entertainment, farming,
communication, living, education and working, etc.

We do our shopping online, build our businesses online, spend our downtime online, and
even make life-long friends online. As of 2022, 66 percent of the global population were
active internet users. Bringing us closer to commodities, the internet is set to become an
even bigger part of our lives.

Privacy counts as one of the fundamental human rights: over 130 countries in the world
mention it in their constitutions. Technological risk and safety is an area in which the
terminology is far from well established. I will present to you some of the threats children are
exposed to via technology. As you can see, it is estimated that 45% of children in the
mentioned age group are victims of cyberstalking, that is, bullying on the internet. Cyber-
bullying has many ugly faces, including posting of sensitive photos, embarrassing videos,
public shaming via injurious comments, the sharing of secrets – real or imagined… Often,
victims are slow to seek help and report these attacks due to the feelings of shame that they
purposefully induce. We also have exposure to violent or sexual content, computer threats,
encounters with strangers and sexual contact and video game disorders or addictions.

There is no denying that the internet has had a positive impact on human communication.
Compared to pre-internet times, we are now more connected than ever before. Here are
some of the ways that technology has a positive effect on social interaction.

Instant global communication

Most of us now have the means to contact people on the other side of the world
immediately. No waiting for the postman, messenger pigeon, or message in a bottle—
technology has broken down the communication barriers that distance once presented.

Virtual connections
. Video calling apps like Skype and Zoom mean people can now experience emotional
connections without having to be in the same room. This has been especially important
throughout the coronavirus crisis, where families from separate households were forced to
stay apart. The day the lockdown was announced, Zoom was downloaded 2.13m times
around the world

Of course, as with everything, there is another angle to consider. How does technology
affect our social lives negatively? Here are some of the ways the technology has a negative
impact on social interaction.

Decreased human contact

More and more people are beginning to rely on technology to communicate with their loved
ones, friends and associates. The coronavirus lockdown that forced millions of people to
work from home also accelerated online communication tools—meaning we get even less
human contact than ever before
A platform for predators
Technology has also provided a platform for online predators to pursue their victims. And as
the schools closed during the coronavirus lockdown, children were on their devices a lot
more often and faced with a sudden drop in social interaction. The National Center for
Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) has said reports to their CyberTipline increased by
106% during the first months of the pandemic

Technology is improving the entertainment experience of the users by creating and

improving components. That way, technology such as digital media, graphics, and
animation, among others, are used to provide entertainment experiences. In fact, during the
pandemic, live streaming became the next big thing in the entertainment industry.

Exemplos
Think about it; how long does it take you to pull out your phone when you are waiting for
something? And how many gaming apps do you have saved to your homescreen?
Never before has the gaming market been able to capitalize on our attention spans so well,
which has pushed for an even greater drive in creating technology.

Beneficios
Helps in nurturing talents
Entertainment technology provides immense opportunities to those who want to make a
name in this industry. Earlier, the need for huge investment discouraged production firms to
experiment with projects. But with the new technology, it's easier to make it without spending
a lot of money.

Reaches a wider audience

We have brought up the example of live-streaming earlier. It is one of the ways
entertainment technology helped creators get to big audiences. Take gaming and
podcasting, for example.

Time management:

In this topic I really think that technology has helped us, I mean it’s no secret that
technology can help you stay on task and improve your time management skills. We can use
technology to

⁃ Plan our day!

I will give you an example: One of the main benefits of technology in time management for
students is the ability to stay organized. With a plethora of applications and tools available,
students can easily keep track of assignments, deadlines, and appointments.

⁃ Changing The Way Businesses Communicate

One of the great benefits of technology is that it has changed communication standards.
Smartphones, social networking sites, and chat apps give a new way of communicating with
great success. Gone are the days when letters were an effective medium of communication
used by business professionals across the globe. Nowadays, people use email, video
conferencing, and messaging to communicate.
And Imagine the mounds of paper that used to litter the offices of accountants, newspapers
and nearly every other business. With the advent of technology, there's no longer the need
for all of that mess, which requires manual cataloguing in order to find the right piece.

Health:
The future of healthcare lies in working hand-in-hand with technology and healthcare
workers have to embrace emerging healthcare technologies in order to stay relevant in the
coming years.

Healthcare trackers, wearables, and sensors

Closely connected with the future of healthcare and medicine, patients’ and individuals’
empowerment is taking better care of their health using technologies like wearables, health
trackers, and sensors. These are excellent devices that allow us to know more about our
health and give us more control over our own lives

2. Virtual reality
VR is being used to train future surgeons and for actual surgeons to practice operations. The
technology is also benefiting patients and has been proven to be effective in pain
management. Women are being equipped with VR headsets to visualize soothing
landscapes so as to help them get through labour pain. Patients suffering from
gastrointestinal, cardiac, neurological and post-surgical pain have shown a decline in their
pain levels when using VR to distract them from pain

While some forms of technology may have made positive changes in the world, there is
evidence for the negative effects of technology and its overuse, as well.
The overuse of technology may have a more significant impact on developing children and
teenagers.

Sleep problems
Using technology too close to bedtime may cause issues with sleep. This effect has to do
with the fact that blue light, such as the light from cell phones, e-readers, and computers,
stimulates the brain.
If you sleep with your phone nearby, subconsciously you are expecting a message, be it a
text or Facebook notification, so your sleep will be lighter. This causes hypervigilance, which
is where you are feeling alert, tense and on guard while you should be sleeping.

Poor posture
The way many people use mobile devices and computers may also contribute to incorrect
posture. Over time, this may lead to musculoskeletal issues.
Many technologies promote a “down and forward” user position, meaning the person is
hunched forward and looking down at the screen. This can put an unnecessary amount of
pressure on the neck and spine.

Learning

How important is technology in education? The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated how

online education can be a vital part of teaching and learning. By integrating technology into
the existing curricula, as opposed to using it solely as a crisis-management tool, teachers
can harness online learning as a powerful educational tool.
The effective use of digital learning tools in classrooms can increase student engagement,
help teachers improve their lesson plans, and facilitate personalized learning.

Virtual classrooms, video, robots, and other technology tools can not only make class more
lively, they can also create more inclusive learning environments that foster collaboration.

Still, it’s important to note that technology is a tool used in education and not an end in itself.
The promise of educational technology lies in what educators do with it and how it is used to
best support their students’ needs.

Also educational technology has its challenges, particularly when it comes to implementation
and use. For example, despite growing interest in the use of Ai, artificial intelligence, and
other emerging technology, less than 10 percent of schools use it.
