1942 FIFA WORLD CUP

Introduction
The Fifa World Cup was played for the first time in Uruguay in 1930.
Uruguay, the host team, won this cup. According to FIFA's rules, the World
Cup would be played every 4 years. The winner of this cup in 1934 was Italy,
and the winner in 1938 was France. Germany officially applied for the venue
for the 1942 FIFA World Cup on 13 August 1936. In June 1939, Brazil
applied for the place where the cup would be played. However, it was
announced by Fifa that the Cup would not be played in 1939 before the place
where the Cup would be played was determined. The reason for this was
World War II was broken out.

Unoffical 1942 World Cup

Two events have been proposed as unofficial World Cup tournaments during
World War II: one in Nazi Germany and one in Argentina. A competition in
Patagonia, Argentina, brought together twelve teams of professional football
players, immigrants, acrobats, banished revolutionaries, Nazi soldiers, and
local laborers. There aren't many details, and it's still unclear who won.

Germany's match against Sweden, which took place on September 30, 1942,
at Berlin's Olympiastadion, was promoted as a match between two of the best
European teams. Hitler's warnings and their past defeats spurred the German
team to view this match as vital. As a "unofficial World Cup final," it is
recognized by the Unofficial Football World Championships.

But FIFA announced that this tournament will not be accepted.

1946 World Cup
Talks about bringing back the World Cup started after World War II, but in
1946 it was not possible to pull it off. There was no World Cup that year as a
result, and arrangements were made for Brazil to host the competition in
1949. But because of custom, it was rescheduled for 1950. The South
American Championship, which many South Americans view as the
unofficial World Cup final, saw Argentina defeat Brazil 2-0 in 1946. FIFA
did not acknowledge Argentina's unofficial declaration as the 1946 world
champion.

Return Of The World Cup

Brazil saved the World Cup after World War II as the only nation willing to
host the competition. With a changed format and no customary championship
match, the 1950 World Cup was hosted in Brazil. In the Maracana Stadium,
Uruguay triumphed, defeating Brazil 2-1. In 1954, when Switzerland hosted
the competition once more, it moved back to Europe. West Germany defeated
Hungary 3-2 to win the first World Cup final in sixteen years.
