CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

General Formatting for all Chapters: Use Times Roman Font size 12. For indentation, there

should be 5 spaces from the left margin. Left margin is 1.5 inches or 3.81 cm, while the Top,

Bottom and Right Margins is only 1 inch or 2.54cm. There should be 2 singles spaces between

the Chapter Number and the Chapter Title. There should be 3 single spaces between the Chapter

Title and the Body of the Chapter/Subheading (if any). The Body of the Chapter spacing is

double space. Paragraphs must be justified.

Content: The Introduction must contain the brief Background of the Study, Objectives,

and Significance of the Study written in paragraph form without any subheadings.

The background of the study includes a review of the area being researched, current

information surrounding the issue, previous studies on the issue, and relevant history on the

issue. Provide proper citation.

State the general objective. Then, give the specific objectives of the study. Then, establish

why you are interested in the problem. Describe its significance or implication/s to the scientific,

environmental, local, national, and/or global communities.

References with no dates (ND) are not allowed.


CHAPTER 2
2 spaces between Chapter Number and Chapter Title
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
3 single spaces between Chapter Title and the subheading title

2.1 Subheading 1

Include only literatures relevant to your study. There should be 3 spaces between subheadings.

Follow the correct format when presenting Figures and Tables. Remember to acknowledge the

sources of your Figures and Tables.

Note that the Figure Title should be found below the Figure, and is written in bold letters. The

word figure is abbreviated, except when mentioned within the text or paragraph. If the title is long,

the rest of the title shall be left-aligned with single spacing only. A brief description follows the

title written in single-space. Legends and the unit used should also be included. If the figure has a

title in the image, crop it.

Graphs should always include a legend that explains the symbols, abbreviations, and

terminology used in the figure. These terms must be consistent with those used in the text and in

other figures. The lettering in the legend should be of the same type and size as that used in the

figure.
