Newspaper

Pre – lesson Preparation

Lay out newspaper on tables


Create inking stations 1 per pair
Set out rollers – to share between pairs
Set out stack of paper each pupil
Set out stack of scrap paper per pupil
Put ink onto ink block
Set up demonstration

Process

1. RULES – no walking around classroom put hand up if need


help

2. Wear apron and roll up sleeves– (health and safety- inform pupils
if get on clothes won’t come out)

3. Prepare ink on ink block – drag ink down and out ( don’t pull all
down at once)

4. Place scrap paper under poly block (always work in clean area)

5. Roller ink onto poly block with wet roller– make sure goes all the
way to the edges (will go onto scrap paper)
6. Make sure ink is even across block

7. Place block face down onto colour paper (do a test print first to see
quality of print)

8. Use dry roller to press block down. Roll all the way to the edges

9. Turn paper over and roll back of page

10. Slowly peel off print and leave to dry – look to see if there is too
much or too little ink on your block

Cleaning (15 mins)

2 x sink monitors to clean boards and rollers


1 x monitor per table to take equipment up to sink monitors

To clean boards – run under tap, dry with paper towels and stack
next to sink

Make sure clean rollers fully, use brush to clean
