TOPIC & SYNOPSIS

Engaging Activities to Build Reading Skills

Sometimes, students feel that reading is not an enjoyable activity
because it is done as a passive activity. In these sessions, we will look
at various types of reading activities which can be done in ways that
get students actively engaged in reading both mentally and
communicatively. A range of activities suitable for primary and
secondary students will be explored which can be used to assist in
increasing students’ English reading literacy skills.

TRAINER’S PROFILE

Siska Melia is an English teacher with a 10-year experience in

teaching English. She has been working with a wide range of age
groups from young to adult learner. She holds Bachelor's degree in
English Education. In the past, she used to work as an academic
manager for a prominent English language centre. Currently, she is one
of the English teacher trainers in the curriculum and training division at
Mentari Group.
