According the results of different sowing dates from 20 th April, 2018 to 29 th April, 2018, it was
revealed that production response is differernt as well as acreage yield. The genotype no. 4 was the
most stable genotype in terms of plant height. Wide spectrum of chlorophyll and morphological
macromutants were observed in M2 generation. The molecular tagging and molecular marker based
identification shall bring new dimensions in gene technology. Exotic cultivars differ significantly for
grain yield with maximum 11.4 g plant-1 for Ducato and minimum 1.2 g plant-1 in case of Varigated
and 2a-(GB 44004.1-1999). Non significant differences among genotypes were observed for days to
maturity. The study organized 31 expert panels involving 387 experts across 9 countries. Nonetheless,
although VrPHYA appears to be useful in increasing early flowering (FLI and DFL) and SPDM, it

Bangladesh Paresh Sarma The study was conducted in three mungbean growing districts namely
Barisal, Patuakhali and Noakhali of Bangladesh during the period of 2010-11 to assess the extent of
technology adoption, profitability, farmers’ attitude, and constraints to mungbean. However, the 50
kR dose effectively produced a novel mutant that showed multiple morphological mutations such as
large flowers with dark-yellow petals, dense and thick hairy pods and black seeds. Only biparental
mapping populations have been used in mungbean. Among the chlorophyll macro-mutants, chlorina
was the most frequent in both cultivars. The expected genetic advance was high (42.39%) in 0.4%
dose for days to flowering. We grew mungbean during 2012 and 2013 using two cultivars (Berken
and TexSprout), two planting dates (early and late July), and two row spacings (0.375 and 0.75 m) to
characterize composition of mungbean seed produced in Virginia. Correlation study suggested that
germination was least affected while seedling. This allowed the sun to reach the dishes, which also
caused the water and solution to evaporate faster. This study's objective was to quantify the adoption
of improved mungbean (Vigna radiata L.) varieties and agricultural practices and to identify
production constraints for six countries in Southeast Asia and three countries in East Africa. Our
findings suggest that change in the intercropped chickpea rhizosphere-induced parameters facilitated
P and N uptake, above-ground biomass, grain yield, and land use efficiency for wheat crop. The
overall mean values for plant height ranged from 41.33 cm for Shewarobit to 62.00 cm for the local
check. The decrease in seed yield per plant under salt stress was more pronounced, associated with a
reduced number of seed per pod and. Naypyidaw: The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and
Irrigation (MAOLI). In Arabidopsis, ERF4 is a negative regulator that can modulate ethylene and
abscisic acid responses. Podosphaera xanthii and Erysiphe vignae sp. nov. identified as the two
species that cause powdery mildew of mungbean ( Vigna radiata ) and black gram (V. The highest
GCV (0.537) for number of seeds per pods and highest PCV (0.635) for plant height were recorded
in 0.4% EMS treatment. The lowest GCV (0.179) and PCV (0.214) were recorded in the control set
for number of pods per plant. The results showed that the first, second, third and fifth environments
had similar responses in terms of plant height. This is driven by increasing consumer demand for dry
legumes and plant-based protein foods. An alternative to this would have been keeping just two petri
dishes with the top and testing one salt solution against distilled water, or plastic wrap could have
been put over each of the four separate dishes. It is tempting to speculate that VrTAF5 controls
resistance to both C. The grain yield advantages of 41.11, 34.52, and 25.26% were obtained from
the improved varieties N-26, NVL-01, and Shewarobit, respectively over the local check.
The application of DNA markers for decision-making in plant selection processes is called marker-
assisted breeding (MAB), which is a kind of molecular breeding ( Collard and Mackill, 2008 ). It was
observed that most of the farmer cultivated BARI mung-6 (67.78%), BARI mung-5 (21.11%) and
BARI mung-7 (11.11%) in the study areas. The germination of all mungbean genotypes was delayed
and germination percentage was reduced with increasing level of salinity. Download Free PDF View

fertilizer nutrient content, solubility, and nutrient release rates are typically much lower than mineral
(inorganic) fertilizers. Highest yield and yield contributing factors were observed in sole black gram
compared to intercropping with maize. MAS utilizes markers that are closely or tightly linked with
traits of interest to select plants with desirable allele-affecting target traits ( Collard and Mackill,
2008 ), while GS employs genome-wide markers to predict the effects of all loci and thereby
calculate genomic estimated breeding values for all individuals of a breeding population ( Goddard,
2009 ). Lack of required amount of variability, limits the scope for the selection of better genotypes
in mungbean. A VrDet1 and upstream sequence comparison between 13 wild and 14 cultivated
mungbean accessions revealed three unique SNPs in the promoter region between the two groups. To

diversity through domestication and breeding. By their nature, organic fertilizers increase physical
and biological nutrient storage mechanism in soils, mitigating risks of over-fertilization. Our findings
suggest that change in the intercropped chickpea rhizosphere-induced parameters facilitated P and N
uptake, above-ground biomass, grain yield, and land use efficiency for wheat crop. The highest yield
per square meter was observed in the planting pattern of five in 55 cm. Observations on quantitative
traits including plant height, number of fertile branches, number of capsules per plant, number of
seeds per capsule and 1000 seed weight (g) showed significant inter-treatment variations at different
mutagenic doses. Keywords—Mechanized cultivation, power tiller operated seeder, strip tillage and

and 17,694,108 on chromosomes 2 and 4, respectively, associated with seed coat color ( Sandhu and

The selection pressure in case of these crops has been concerned more with adaptation to stress
conditions than for yield. In the study, 20 dry bean genotypes comprising 7 varieties and 13
advanced lines were used. These mungbean seeds also contained 38.8, 61.2, 5.79, and 55.1% in
saturated, unsaturated, mono-unsaturated, and poly-unsaturated fatty acids, respectively. We grew

questions. These results indicate that the transition from indeterminacy to determinacy in cultivated
mungbean is due to the loss-of-function mutations in the two cis-regulatory elements in the promoter
region of VrDet1. Thus mutation assisted plant breeding will play a crucial role in the generation of
designer crop varieties to address the threats of global climate change and challenges of world food
insecurity. Development Habbits Mungbean has aace with Vegetable group of plants and are firmly
identified with cowpea (in similar variety yet unique species). It is additionally developed amid
spring season for the most part in southern Punjab and Sindh area. Both upstanding and vine kinds
of development propensity happen in mungbean, with plants differing from one to five feet long.
Methods: A Delphi method using expert elicitation was applied at subnational levels and then
aggregated to national levels. In this review, we focus on some important traits, as follows. The

Rajesh kanwar The study was conducted to survey and collect various French bean genotypes from
the main hot spot regions of Himachal Pradesh like Shimla, Chamba, Sirmour, Kullu, Kinnaur and
some areas of Mandi and Solan district. The experiment was conducted in earthen pots lined with
polythene bags in complete randomized block design with reliable growth and physiological
characteristics along with yield attributes. Introduction: Mung bean is one among the necessary
kharif beats of Pakistan. However, the 50 kR dose effectively produced a novel mutant that showed
multiple morphological mutations such as large flowers with dark-yellow petals, dense and thick

expression of MtCYP86A, which is involved in the cuticle biosynthesis pathway, and MtKCS12,
which controls the production of very-long-chain lipids in the seed coat ( Chai et al., 2016, 2021 ).
Scarified seeds of ACC41 germinated rapidly under wet conditions, while the intact seeds of
ACC41 remained dormant for several days. If this is the case, this QTL will be useful for breeding
YMD-resistant mungbean cultivars, since it is stable across environments. Significant differences

VrPGIP2 between the mapped mungbean parents revealed SNPs in only the coding sequence of
VrPGIP2. Nondormant seeds provide uniform germination and timely cultivation.

MORPHOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF SOME EXOTIC COMMON BEAN (PHASEOLUS
VULGARIS L.) GENOTYPES UNDER RAINFED CONDITIONS OF ISLAMABAD,
PAKISTAN Mukhtar Ahmed Thirteen exotic and local genotypes of common bean (Phaseolus
vulgaris L.) were evaluated for various agronomic and morphological characters under rainfed
conditions of Islamabad, Pakistan during February-May, 2010. BARI mung-6 was the popular
variety among the farmers in the study areas as its adaptability to diverse nature and high yield. It
will therefore be difficult to determine the causative FER genes for these traits. Recently, the
International Mungbean Improvement Network (IMIN), with the aim of strengthening local
mungbean research, pre-breeding, and variety development capacity to generate improved, farmer-
accepted varieties, was established ( Nair et al., 2022 ). The IMIN is led by the WorldVeg with
partners from Australia, Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, and has
generated resources and knowledge on mungbean genomics. The biggest producer and consumer of
mungbean is India, with about 4.5 million ha cultivated and a total production of 2.5 million tons (
Anonymous, 2021 ). Punjab is the real mung bean developing region that by itself represented 88%
zone and 85% of the absolute mung bean creation. It is for the most part developed in Kharif season
(July-October). Each group will be placed in petri dishes on damp paper towels and covered with
damp paper towels. The production of mutants by irradiation of in vitro cultured tissues provides a
means to treat large populations which would not have been possible before. The treatments were
found to be appropriate for breeding objectives focused on productivity, considering the lower
biological damages with a higher percent of the variance in quantitative traits. MAS has been
successfully applied in several major crops, but rarely in minor and orphan crops, including
mungbean. In contrast, seed dormancy prevents germination of wild species in unsuitable
environments. All of the QTLs except qMYMIV4 accounted for qMYMIV2.1 and qMYMIV7.1, for
MYMIV resistance in two locations in Bangladesh were consistently identified using F 2 and BC 1 F
1 populations ( Alam et al., 2014a ). Each QTL accounted for more than 40% of disease resistance
variation. An experiment was conducted with three treatments viz. Processed organic fertilizers
include compost, blood metal, bone meal, humic acid, amino acids, brassin, and seaweed extracts.
Wild mungbean germplasm is an important source of resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses ( Fujii
and Miyazaki, 1987; Lawn et al., 1988; Lawn and Rebetzke, 2006 ), which have become more
prominent and serious owing to climate change. These rounds to elongated seeds change in size from
6,000 to more than 12,000 for every pound, contingent on assortment. Bad weather, pod picking and
insect pest attack was major constraints for mungbean cultivation. Mungbean is an important protein
source for people in cereal-based societies, especially in South Asia. Both upstanding and vine kinds
of development propensity happen in mungbean, with plants differing from one to five feet long.
Plants treated with 30 mM KNO3 under 50 mM salt stress produced the best growth and yield
contributing characters viz. Unfortunately, like other minor or orphan crops, mungbean has received
little attention in the research community over the past 30 years; thus, it has not been established as a
model crop species for genomics research. For screening test eleven mungbean genotype (BARI
mung 2, BARI mung 3, BARI mung 4, BARI mung 5, BARI mung 6, BINA mung 1, BINA mung 2,
BINA mung 5, BINA mung 6, BINA mung 7 and BINA mung 8) were tested in three salinity levels
(0, 50 and 100 mM) of NaCl. If you are cultivating edible plants, organic fertilizers are
recommended because they give crops a better flavour (taste). It is noteworthy that the germplasm
used in the GWAS of Daovongdeuan (2017) and Noble et al. (2018) contained a small portion of
black mungbean seeds ( Watt et al., 1977; Sarikarin et al., 1999 ). Therefore, phenotyping seed coat
colors must be performed with caution. Recently, a set of mungbean germplasms with 276 accessions
(233 cultivated and 42 wild) from 23 countries was assessed for diversity using genome-wide SNP
variations analyzed by GBS ( Ha et al., 2021 ). The assessment showed that the average nucleotide
diversity in cultivated mungbean was more than 3-fold lower than that in wild mungbean, and the
cultivated mungbean from India showed the closest relationship with the wild mungbean. Mungbean
production areas outside Asia, including in Australia, America, and Africa, are increasing. The
present experimentation reflected that the induced variation with 0.06% could be applied for the
generation of new cultivars of fenugreek. Upload Read for free FAQ and support Language (EN)

Best of all, it is low cost, low technology, but scientifically based. Each paragraph in the body of the
essay should contain. Results reveled that the early growth phase of mungbean is highly affected due
to salinity and the interrelationship between salinity and accessions was also statistically significant
for yield parameters under different levels of salinity stress. The germination of all mungbean
genotypes was delayed and germination percentage was reduced with increasing level of salinity.
The observations were recorded on morphological, cytological and physiological parameters in M 1
and M 2 generations to evaluate the mutagenic potency and to induce the desirable genetic
variability in the crop. Therefore, amino acid change in the CaMBD domain of VrMLO12 is likely
the cause of PM resistance in RUM5 and V4718, although the amino acid change in TM6 may also
contribute to the resistance. On the basis of relative total dry matter (RTDM%), accessions were
categorized as highly tolerant, moderately susceptible and highly susceptible. The application of
DNA markers for decision-making in plant selection processes is called marker-assisted breeding
(MAB), which is a kind of molecular breeding ( Collard and Mackill, 2008 ). Since the loss-of-
function mutations in clade V MLO genes lead to broad-spectrum resistance to PM in several plant
species, the clade V MLO genes in mungbean, namely VrMLO1, VrMLO2, VrMLO5, VrMLO6,
VrMLO11, and VrMLO17 ( Rispail and Rubiales, 2016 ), can be suitably targeted as selected
candidate genes for association analysis of resistance to PM disease in mungbean. Control Group
Experiment Group Alternate Hypothesis: There is a difference in germination root length due to the
source of light. The era of crop genomics began in the late 1980s with the development of restriction
fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) markers and genetic linkage maps of several economic crops,
including rice ( McCouch et al., 1988 ), tomato ( Bernatzky and Tanksley, 1986 ), and maize (
Helentjaris, 1987 ). Induced mutations can help to regenerate and restore the variability, which has
been lost in the process of adaptation to various stresses or adaptations during the course of
evolution. Additional attempts should be made to identify candidate genes for other loci for
resistance, for example, the genes for qPMRUM5-2 that express stable resistance. Canberra, ACT:
Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research. Nearly 10 years later, Chaitieng et al.
(2002) used RFLP and amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) markers and identified one
major and one minor QTL, PMR1, and PMR2, controlling resistance to PM in “VC1210A.” PMR1
explained up to 65% of the disease resistance variation. MAS has been successfully applied in
several major crops, but rarely in minor and orphan crops, including mungbean. Introduction: Mung
bean is one among the necessary kharif beats of Pakistan. Third-generation sequencing, such as
single-molecule real-time (SMRT) sequencing and nanopore sequencing, generates sequence reads
with unprecedented lengths in less time and with more accuracy, but at a lower cost. The improved
cultivars revolutionized the yield, plant architecture, and phenology of mungbean, although they
were still susceptible to diseases. The correlation coefficients illustrate the positive and significant
association of grain yield with flowering duration, number of pods-1, and number of seeds plant-1,
therefore, these traits should be considered for genetic improvement through selection. Despite its
importance, there have been only a few studies reporting the genetics and genomics of resistance to
CLS disease in mungbean. Despite the slow progress in genome research due to the limited genomic
resources, the last 10 years have witnessed an increase in genomic studies in mungbean, resulting in
significant findings and knowledge regarding some complex and important traits, especially insect
and disease resistance, accumulated, thanks to advanced sequencing technologies and aiding in the
construction of reference genome sequences of mungbean and genotyping of SNP markers. So the
use of organic fertilizers is on the rise because people are becoming aware the organic fertilizers are
environment-friendly, low cost, low technology, and increase the fertility of the land. Three
treatments of row spacing (50, 65 and 80 cm) were considered as the main plots and three treatments
of plant spacing on the row (5, 7.5 and 10 cm) were considered as sub plots. You can download the
paper by clicking the button above. FT encodes florigen, which serves as an integrator of flowering
time control in several plant species. The results reflect an increase in the mean values for chlorophyll
and carotenoid contents at the 0.1 % EMS treatment in both varieties indicating an improved
photosynthetic activity in this treatment. The QTLs on LGs 2, 4, 6, and 11 were always detected,
especially those on LGs 2 and 4. Understanding the genetic mechanism underlying the photoperiod
response in mungbean is crucial for expanding mungbean production to high-latitude regions. The
majority of nitrogen supplying organic fertilizers contains insoluble nitrogen and acts as a slow-
release fertilizer.
In fact, MLO s are susceptibility genes ( S -genes), genes that facilitate infection and support
compatibility for a pathogen ( van Schie and Takken, 2014 ). However, the 50 kR dose effectively
produced a novel mutant that showed multiple morphological mutations such as large flowers with
dark-yellow petals, dense and thick hairy pods and black seeds. The study would prove a basic
primary step in germpla. Again among the genotypes advanced line BMX 94010-11 was found as
relatively salt tolerant. Genetic diversity in the core and minicore collections was moderate, with 122
and 166 alleles and H E of 0.49 and 0.57, respectively. This minicore collection was further
characterized using 5,288 SNP markers generated by genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS), revealing
that the collection is composed of four genetic clusters that are generally related to the geographical
origins of the mungbean. The highest yield per square meter was observed in the planting pattern of
five in 55 cm. Populations derived from intercrossing multiple parents, including nested association
mapping (NAM) ( McMullen et al., 2009 ) and multiparent advanced generation intercross (MAGIC)
( Cavanagh et al., 2008 ) populations, have been proposed for use in high-resolution, precise QTL
mapping. Resistance to biotic stresses has dominated mungbean genome research to date; however,
research is on the rise. Download Free PDF View PDF AGRO-MORPHOLOGICAL EVALUATION

that can enhance the efficiency and precision of conventional plant breeding. The secretory vesicle
traffic modulates pathogen penetration, leading to the formation of papillae or cell wall appositions (
Feechan et al., 2011 ), which are associated with mlo -based resistance ( Consonni et al., 2006 ). It is
not yet known how VrMLO12 modulates susceptibility to E. polygoni. Molecular characterization of
the function of VrMLO12 could allow a better understanding of the interaction between MLO
proteins and powdery mildew fungi, and thus of mlo -based resistance. Development is moved in the
areas of Layyah, Bhakkar, Mianwali and Rawalpindi. The adoption and use of the WorldVeg
breeding lines have transformed the mungbean from a marginal crop to a major crop in Asia. The
farmers will have a greater chance of using organic fertilizers like vermicompost which is readily

contributing factors were observed in sole black gram compared to intercropping with maize. The
results revealed that BINA moog 8 was the most tolerant and BARI mung 2 was the most sensitive
genotype.
It is believed that the SNPs in the cis-regulatory elements in cultivated mungbean reduce or cancel
the expression of VrDet1, thereby suppressing the expression of floral identity genes in the apical
meristems of stem tips in determinate mungbean to produce terminal flowers that develop into
terminal pods ( Li et al., 2018 ). Recently, the International Mungbean Improvement Network
(IMIN), with the aim of strengthening local mungbean research, pre-breeding, and variety
development capacity to generate improved, farmer-accepted varieties, was established ( Nair et al.,
2022 ). The IMIN is led by the WorldVeg with partners from Australia, Bangladesh, India, Myanmar,
Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, and has generated resources and knowledge on mungbean genomics.
A few years after the release of the draft genome sequence of “VC1973A,” the WGS of the breeding
line “RIL59” was reported ( Liu M. S. et al., 2016 ). A 455.2-Mb portion (88%) of the genome of
RIL59 (517.1 Mb) was sequenced using Illumina sequencing and assembled into 2,509 scaffolds
with an N50 of 676.7 kb and an average sequence length 181.4 Mb. A total of 36,939 protein-coding
genes were predicted. The physical and chemical mutagens, their effects and their utility are
discussed. Loss of MLO function is associated with resistance to the disease and is known as mlo -
based resistance ( Kusch and Panstruga, 2017 ). The study revealed that gypsum treatment could
alleviate the adverse effect of salinity on mungbean. This crop has previously been produced in the
US states of Texas and Oklahoma but this production is currently not significant. The era of crop
genomics began in the late 1980s with the development of restriction fragment length polymorphism
(RFLP) markers and genetic linkage maps of several economic crops, including rice ( McCouch et
al., 1988 ), tomato ( Bernatzky and Tanksley, 1986 ), and maize ( Helentjaris, 1987 ). Average Gross

the mungbean cultivation was profitable. This did not provide the space the mung beans needed to
grow, and caused them to each have less water since they had to compete for it. The findings also
reveal that a return of investment of 132.66% per hectare can be generated in producing mungbean.
Local Kashmir and Ducato were proved best among indigenous and exotic genotypes, respectively.
Thus mutation breeding or induced mutation is having great potential for the improvement of
traditional agricultural crops like mungbean. The study organized 31 expert panels involving 387
experts across 9 countries. The genomes of wild mungbean should be explored by WGS and whole-
genome resequencing to harness their natural allelic variation for breeding climate-resilient
mungbean. Vradi04g00002773 ( VrPHYA in Hwang et al., 2017 ) was identified as the candidate
gene for PLH, BRN, and SPDM, while Vradi04g00002764 ( VrBONSAI ), encoding a protein with
similarity to the APC13 component of the anaphase-promoting complex, and Vradi03g00002294 (
VrERF4 ), producing ERF4, were identified as candidate genes for FLI and BRN, respectively. I will
be testing if there is a direct effect on mung bean growth based on the light it receives for energy.
Research exercises on mung bean have been predominantly centered around the advancement of
high yielding assortments with more extensive versatility, impervious to infections like Mungbean
Yellow Mosaic Infection (MYMV) and Cercospora Leaf Spot (CLS), early development and cold-
heartedness to photoperiod. To browse Academia.edu and the wider internet faster and more
securely, please take a few seconds to upgrade your browser. Besides, to disseminate information in
the farmer's level conservation tillage is new technology for increasing and sustaining productivity of
Mungbean cultivation in mechanized way. Based on the newly assembled genome of VC1973A,
candidate genes for the major QTLs of these traits were identified. Plants treated with 30 mM
KNO3 under 50 mM salt stress produced the best growth and yield contributing characters viz.
Frequency of the natural mutation is very low and hence artificial mutations are induced and genetic
variability is best enhanced with the application of mutagens. These would finally lead to rapid
enhancement of crops with improved yield, increased biotic and abiotic stress and reduced
agronomic inputs. The pure vermicompost offers an array of nutrients for the growing plants.
Inorganic fertilizers are safe to use, however, because, it is quick-releasing salts can build up fast,
damaging soil (soil application), pumps, and air stones used in hydroponics application. The. The
height and the number of leaves are only the concern of the said study. Cluster analysis based on
different agro-morphic parameters revealed important classification regarding genetic diversity for
studied traits among genotype. However, heavy dependence on inorganic fertilizers can cause soil
barrenness and infertility. Wide spectrum of chlorophyll and morphological macromutants were
observed in M2 generation.
