Introduction of Viruses:

• Computer viruses are a type of software

program that, like a biological viruses
reproduces and spread itself.
• Some viruses only display a message on the
screen, others may slow-down the PC.
• They can also erase files or even format your
floppy or hard disk and crash the system
Symptoms:
• The computer operates more slowly than
usual, taking longer to perform routine
tasks.
• Files may suddenly change in size, and
their timestamps may be modified without
your knowledge.
• The computer does not boot.
• Unknown files, folders, or icons may
appear on the desktop.
How does it spread?
• Viruses often spread through malicious
email attachments.
• When you exchange a file or pen drive with
a virus, the virus spread from one computer
to another.
• Viruses also spread when a Computer
Engineer comes to repair your system and
puts his/her diagnostic disks in your PC.
Types of Viruses:
• Boot Virus:
The boot virus copies the virus code in
the boot sector.
• Polymorphic Viruses:
They are coded in such a way that they
infect a system and change their
signature.
• Worms:
Worms are program that replicate and
spread to other system.
• Macro Viruses:
Typically found in documents with macros,
such as Word or Excel files, macro viruses
infect these documents and can spread
when the document is opened.
• Trojans Horse:
Unlike viruses, Trojans do not replicate
themselves. Instead, they disguise
themselves as legitimate programs or files
to deceive users into executing them, often
leading to unauthorized access.
Anti-viruses:

Antivirus is a software designed to

detect, prevent, and remove
malicious software (malware) from
computer systems, protecting them
from potential threats such as
viruses, worms, and other types of
malicious code.
Types of anti-viruses:
• Norton Antivirus:
Developed by Norton Life Lock, it offers
comprehensive protection against various
types of malware, including viruses, spyware,
and ran some ware.
• McAfee Antivirus:
McAfee provides antivirus and internet
security solutions. It includes features such as
real-time scanning, firewall protection, and
secure web browsing.
• Avast Antivirus:
Avast offers a free antivirus solution along with
premium versions. It includes features such as
real-time protection, a firewall, and a sandbox
for running suspicious files in a secure
environment.
• Kaspersky Antivirus:
Kaspersky Lab's antivirus software provides
real-time protection against viruses, malware,
and phishing attacks. It is known for its efficient
detection capabilities.
Conclusion:
For better and safe computation Anti-
virus software should be installed and
helpful for global network system
freely.
