Petroleum, commonly known as crude oil, is a

naturally occurring fossil fuel formed from the
remains of ancient marine organisms. It is a
complex mixture of hydrocarbons and other
organic compounds, found in underground
reservoirs. Petroleum is a vital energy source,
serving as the raw material for various products,
including gasoline, diesel, and plastics. The
extraction, refining, and utilization of petroleum
play a crucial role in the global economy and
energy landscape.

Malampaya Field
The Malampaya field is a natural
gas and condensate field located
in the Reed Bank offshore
Palawan, the largest oil and gas
discovery in the Philippines, with
estimated reserves of 3.8 billion
barrels of oil and 2.5 trillion
cubic feet of natural gas. It is the
Philippines' primary source of
natural gas, generating about
40% of the country's electricity.
Galoc Field
The Galoc field is an offshore oil
field located in the West Palawan
Basin, with estimated reserves of
100 million barrels of oil. It is
operated by Nido Petroleum, an
Australian company. The Galoc
field is a relatively new discovery,
and production is expected to
begin in 2023.
Camago-Mariveles
Field
The Camago-Mariveles field is an
offshore oil and gas field located
in the West Luzon Basin, with
estimated reserves of 50 million
barrels of oil and 100 billion
cubic feet of natural gas. It is
operated by Chevron Philippines
Inc., a subsidiary of Chevron
Corporation. The Camago-
Mariveles field is a relatively
small field, but it is still an
important source of oil and gas
for the Philippines.

Brent Crude
Brent Crude is a mixture that
comes from 15 different oil
fields between Scotland and
Norway in the North Sea. These
fields supply oil to most of
Europe.
West Texas
Intermediate (WTI)
West Texas Intermediate (WTI) is
a lighter oil that is produced
mostly in the U.S. state of Texas.
It is “sweet” and “light”—
considered very high quality. WTI
supplies much of North America
with oil.
Dubai Crude
Dubai crude, also known as
Fateh or Dubai-Oman crude, is a
light, sour oil that is produced in
Dubai, part of the United Arab
Emirates. The nearby country of
Oman has recently begun
producing oil. Dubai and Oman
crudes are used as a reference
point for pricing Persian Gulf oils
that are mostly exported to Asia.

An oil power plant works by burning oil to produce heat, which then converts water
into steam. The steam drives a turbine, which rotates a generator, which creates
electricity.
 Fractional distillation is a
type of distillation that
separates a mixture of
liquids based on their
different boiling points. It
involves heating the
mixture until one or more
components vaporize, then
cooling and condensing the
vapor to obtain the pure
liquid fractions
ADVANCEMENT/FUTURE
PLANS/TECHNOLOGY

The future plans for the petroleum industry revolve around sustainability and
diversification. There's a focus on developing cleaner extraction and refining
processes, reducing environmental impact, and embracing technologies like carbon
capture and storage. Additionally, the industry is exploring alternative energy
sources, such as biofuels and hydrogen, to adapt to changing energy landscapes
and address concerns related to climate change. Transitioning towards a more
sustainable and diversified energy portfolio is a key aspect of future planning in the
petroleum sector.
