INTRODUCTION
The most recent version of Microsoft's well-known operating system,
Windows 11, is a monument to creativity, superior design, and a dedication
to improving the user experience in general. As the successor to Windows
10, Windows 11 represents a major step forward in terms of both
functionality and appearance, meeting the changing demands of a
contemporary and dynamic digital environment.
Aesthetic Brilliance: Windows 11's striking interface is among the first
things you'll notice about it. Users are greeted by a brand-new Start Menu
that is strategically focused and offers simple, clear access to documents,
programs, and more. The unified color scheme, graceful animations, and
rounded corners of the overall design language all work together to produce
a unified and aesthetically beautiful experience.
Productivity Redefined: Windows 11 offers several enhancements
designed to make jobs easier to complete and increase output. Users can
easily multitask by managing and organizing many programs at once with
the use of Snap groups and layouts. With a wide selection of programs for
work, creativity, and entertainment, the revamped Microsoft Store presents
a more interactive and well-curated experience.
Integration and connectedness: Windows 11 places a high priority on
smooth device integration in a time characterized by connectedness. With a
renewed focus on the Microsoft Teams platform, users can text, phone, or
make video chats with coworkers, friends, and family right from the
taskbar. With the help of the enhanced Widgets functionality, users may
access personalized, instantaneous information that keeps them informed
and engaged.
Excellence in Gaming: Windows 11 offers many improvements for those
who enjoy playing games. A wide range of games is available in the
gaming library thanks to the direct integration of Xbox Game Pass into the
Microsoft Store. By offering incredible images and quicker load times,
Auto HDR and Direct Storage have improved the gaming experience and
expanded the realm of what is conceivable for PC gaming.
Enhanced Security: Security is paramount in Windows 11, with features
like Windows Hello, ensuring secure and convenient authentication
methods. The integration of Microsoft Defender Antivirus provides robust
protection against evolving cyber threats, creating a secure digital
environment for users.
Hardware Compatibility: Windows 11 is optimized to leverage the
capabilities of modern hardware, offering support for technologies like
TPM 2.0 for enhanced security and performance. With a focus on efficiency
and responsiveness, this operating system aims to harness the full potential
of contemporary computing devices.
A New Era Unveiled: In essence, Windows 11 heralds a new era in
operating systems, combining aesthetics, productivity, and connectivity into
a harmonious digital experience. Whether you're a professional seeking
enhanced productivity tools, a creative mind exploring new possibilities, or
a gamer looking for an immersive experience, Windows 11 has been crafted
to meet the diverse needs of a global user base. Welcome to a new chapter
in computing with Windows 11, where the future is now.
CHAPTER 1
HISTORY OF WINDOWS
The history of Microsoft Windows is a narrative of software evolution that
has profoundly influenced the personal computing landscape. Let's explore
the historical milestones of Windows:
Windows 1.0 (1985):
Windows 95 (1995):
Windows Me (2000):
Windows Millennium Edition (Me) targeted home users.
Focused on multimedia enhancements.
Faced criticism for stability issues and was not as successful as
its predecessors.
Windows XP (2001):
Released on October 25, 2001.
Combined consumer-friendly features with the stability of
Windows 2000.
Became one of the most widely used and beloved versions.
Windows 7 (2009):
Released on October 22, 2009.
Addressed issues from Vista, providing improved performance
and stability.
Introduced the redesigned taskbar and features like Aero Snap.
Windows 10 (2015):
1. Press the Windows logo key + U or choose Start > options >
Accessibility to open the accessibility options on your computer.
5. You can choose a different color to select a bespoke color, or you can
pick one from the list of suggested colors.
Enhance keyboard usability
1. Press the Windows logo key + U or choose Start > options >
Accessibility to open the accessibility options on your computer.
Touch keyboard
You can input text using the touch keyboard on a device that has a
touchscreen. One of the following can be used to open the touch keyboard:
When you tap on the region where you want to enter text, the
touch keyboard will appear instantly.
From the taskbar, choose the Touch keyboard icon.
Note: You can add the Touch keyboard icon to the taskbar's notification
area if it's not currently visible.
2. Update Windows:
Verify that the operating system on your Windows 10 PC is up
to date.
Press the Windows key + I to launch the "Settings" app.
Click "Update & Security" and choose "Windows Update."
Install any updates that are available after checking for them.
Use the "PC Health Check" tool from Microsoft, if it is available:
This program can determine whether your device qualifies for the Windows
11 upgrade. This utility is available for download and use on the Microsoft
website.

Choose WiFi. The Settings page has this option at the top.
1.
3. Slide the Wi-Fi switch to the "ON" position to turn on the network. It will
start a search for available wireless networks on your iPhone or iPad. If the
Wi-Fi switch is already in the active (green) position, skip this step.
4. Tap the name of a network to select it. The "MY NETWORKS" heading
lists the networks you have already connected to; more networks are
accessible farther down the screen under the "OTHER NETWORKS"
header.
The name of the wireless network you are presently connected
to will have a blue checkmark next to it at the top of the list.
Tapping on a different network name allows you to change to a
new network.
After tapping the network's logo, if a password is not needed,
the connection will be established automatically.
7.
Procedure 2
On Android
1. Press and hold the upper part of your Android home screen to view
Quick Settings and notifications.
(Note: Your settings may differ somewhat from the example shown here
due to the varied manufacturers of Android phones and tablets.)
2. Press and hold the Wi-Fi symbol. It usually looks like a cone, either
made of curving lines or solid. You may access your Android
device's Wi-Fi settings by doing this operation.
7.
Procedure 3
Utilizing KaiOS
1. Access Settings and choose Wi-Fi.
2. Tap to enable Wi-Fi. Your phone will search for available
wireless networks to connect to.
3. Pick a name for the network. If the network you have chosen
doesn't require a password, you can connect right away. Should a
password be required, you'll be prompted to input it.
4. Input your wireless network password if prompted. After the
password is successfully accepted, you will be connected to the
network.
Press the Next button. This button is located in the lower-left corner of the
network window and, if the password you supplied is accurate, it will
prompt your computer to connect to the network.
Procedure 5
Utilizing macOS
Choose the Wi-Fi symbol. Located in the upper-right corner of the menu
bar at the screen's top, the icon will appear as a hollow cone if your
computer is not currently connected to a wireless network.
Edge's Collections feature simplifies how your web pages are arranged.
While browsing the internet, this functionality offers a productive approach
to compile and organize content. You can bookmark websites, photos, and
data using Collections and organize them as you see fit. Edge's Collections
function is a useful tool for researchers, project planners, and idea collectors
alike since it guarantees a digital workspace that is both quickly accessible
and well-organized.
For people who tend to have too many tabs open, vertical tabs are a big
help. Unlike the homogeneous sea of tiny tabs in Chrome, they are
immediately recognizable when stacked along the left rail.
Minimizes Distractions with Immersive Reading
Mode
One feature that Edge provides that is not typically found in other browsers
is called Immersive Reader. Reader-friendly views are provided by Firefox,
Opera, and Safari, but Edge goes one step further by enabling the text to be
read aloud in a remarkably natural voice. This feature, which highlights and
auto-scrolls the text, is helpful for readers as well as an accessibility tool.
Introducing a sidebar for easier access to widely used web services is not a
new notion, and Opera can attest to that! However, Microsoft Edge's next
key addition delivers great implementation and usability. With this
functionality, users may quickly check their email, conduct searches, send
and receive messages, open recently opened documents, and carry on with
their shopping missions. It may be activated via Settings, and while it's not
in use, the browser window's right side has a thin rail running along it.
A button in the sidebar labeled "Discover" takes you to the current website,
and another button points you in the direction of online casual games. It
permits the inclusion of YouTube, Gmail, Instagram, WhatsApp, Spotify,
Apple Music, and Microsoft services. Any website that is now open in the
browser can be added with ease if the default options don't meet your needs.
With Windows 11, add-ons and extensions, including themes, are available
through a webpage gallery instead of the Microsoft Store, as seen in the
image above.
Chrome Web Store add-ons are still available for use. Take control of your
add-ons by adjusting their visibility in the browser's top toolbar and
selecting which ones to use when browsing in private. It's not a good idea to
use add-ons in InPrivate mode because most extensions have access to all
of your browsing history, even when they're not actively being used. Many
people may be shocked to learn this. Go to the Manage Extensions Settings
page to change how an extension has access to your browser history.
Windows 11 improves the Digital Ink experience for those who want to
interact with websites with a stylus, particularly when utilizing the new
Surface Pen 2 for Microsoft Surface tablets. Edge makes for a better overall
experience. The business claims that testing shows a staggering 240%
decrease in latency when using the pen on the screen in comparison to
Windows 10. Using the Ink API, developers may incorporate this speed
boost into their online applications.
Even though Internet Explorer, the browser that once dominated the market,
may not have as many fans as it once did, some companies have created
web apps that require Internet Explorer to work, usually for internal
employee use. You can choose to use Edge on Windows 11 in a mode that
simulates Internet Explorer for older apps, which removes the requirement
to launch the Internet Explorer browser itself. Go to Settings, restart the
browser, and choose "Reload in Internet Explorer Mode" whenever you
come across a website that needs Internet Explorer to enable this option.
Additionally, Edge lets you keep track of websites that ought to launch in
this mode automatically.
The browser you have chosen will now open and display all URL
web links and HTML files. By choosing a certain file type and the
preferred browser, you may also change the default browser that
opens PDFs and other file formats.
No matter how you set your default browser, if you select a web link in
Windows Search or Windows News, it will always open in Microsoft Edge.
You can import your favorites from another web browser and access extra
features by clicking the three dots symbol, which opens the settings menu.
This is especially helpful if you're switching from Mozilla Firefox or
Google Chrome as your browser. To access and arrange your favorites,
select "Open favorites page."
When you access the favorites page, all of your saved Internet favorites will
appear on the right side, accompanied by the folders that contain them on
the left. There are three options at the top: "Add a new favorite," "Show the
favorites bar," and "Add a new folder." The favorites bar allows you to
quickly and consistently access your favorites.
On the favorites tab, you can easily rearrange your favorites into folders and
change their order by just dragging and dropping them. Click on the name
of the folder in the left panel to view its contents and manage favorites
inside of it. Drag these favorites over the "Favorites bar" link in the left
panel to add them to the main favorites list.
Change your default search engine in Microsoft
Edge
If you continue to use Bing as your preferred search engine in the new
Microsoft Edge, it will improve your search experience by providing quick
answers to Windows-related questions, suggestions relevant to your
organization (if you are logged in with a work or school account), and direct
links to Windows apps. It is still possible to switch the default search engine
to any website that uses OpenSearch technology.
To change Microsoft Edge's default search engine:
Use the search engine you want to designate as your default to look
up content in the address bar.
Select "Settings and more" (three dots) > "Settings."
The Windows taskbar is easily integrated with Quick Access. Your pinned
folders for Quick Access are visible in a menu that appears when you right-
click the File Explorer icon in the taskbar. This allows you to quickly and
easily access the folders you use most frequently from the taskbar.
Take the following actions to stop commonly used files and directories from
being added automatically:
Select the "See more" ellipsis icon located at the top of File
Explorer.
Select an option from the list.
Locate the "Open File Explorer to:" option in the Folder Options
window.
The drop-down option can be used to change it from Quick Access to "This
PC."
The next time you launch File Explorer, it will open directly to the "This
PC" view.
Display or Conceal File Extensions
These simple methods will allow you to toggle the appearance of file
extensions in Windows 11 File Explorer:
Launch File Explorer, then select View from the menu at the
top.
To disable file name extensions, uncheck the "File name
extensions" option under the Show submenu.
Just choose the option once again to enable file extensions
again.
You may easily customize whether file extensions are shown or hidden
according to your preferences with these procedures.
Show Your Libraries
Use these techniques to make libraries visible in Windows 11 File Explorer:
The steps below can be used to enable the Preview pane in Windows 11
File Explorer:
1. Place:
Select a category that corresponds with your search to get more results of a
particular kind. Apps, Documents, Settings, Web, and other categories are
included. Before you begin typing, you can choose a category from the tabs
at the top of the Search window.
Select "Sound."
Two further methods exist for gaining access to Sound Settings:
On this tab, you'll see a list of Program Events. Choose the event
you wish to modify.
A new drop-down menu will show up at the bottom of the
window when you select the event.
To browse the available sounds, utilize the drop-down menu.
As an alternative, you can add custom sounds by tapping "Browse" and
exploring File Explorer. The WAV format is required for the sound file.
After selecting the file, select "Open."
Click "OK" to preserve your choices after making your selections.
Most Windows 11 system noises can be modified using this menu. It's
interesting to note that a lot of program events don't automatically have a
system sound assigned to them, giving you more customization options for
Windows.
By unchecking this option, you effectively turn off the Windows 11 startup
sound.

The "Change Drive Letter and Paths" option can be selected by performing
a right-click on the volume.
Choose the current drive letter option.
Click on the Remove button.
Shrink Partition
Use Disk Management to resize a partition on Windows 11 by doing the
following steps:
Press Start.
To open the Disk Management console, search for "Create and
format hard disk partitions" and click the first result.
To resize a drive, right-click on it and choose "Shrink Volume"
from the menu.
Extend Partition
In Windows 11, use Disk Management to expand (or extend) the capacity of
a drive partition by following these steps:
Press the Windows key or click the Search icon on the Taskbar
(1).
Enter "control" into the upper search field (2).
Select "Control Panel" from the menu beneath "Best Match" (3).
2. How to Open the Control Panel Using Settings
It may not be immediately apparent, but the Settings app allows you to
reach the Control Panel. Take these actions:
If you wish to have the Control Panel accessible from both the
Start menu and Taskbar, you can choose the other option while
the Start menu remains open.
The Control Panel is now available on the Taskbar.
Copy the following and paste it into the "Type the location of
the item" box (1).
Select Next (2).
Enter "Control Panel" in the "Type a name for the shortcut" box
(1) and then click Finish (2).
The Control Panel shortcut has been added to the desktop. Feel free to copy
or move the shortcut to any location of your preference.
7. How to Open the Control Panel Using the
Address Bar in File Explorer
It's helpful to open the Control Panel from File Explorer for people who use
it frequently.
Click the down arrow on the address bar's drop-down list (1), choose
Control Panel (2), and File Explorer will launch the Control Panel.
8. How to Add the Control Panel to the Folders
list in File Explorer
By adding the Control Panel to the Folders list in File Explorer, you may
access it with just a single click.
Choose Start > All apps, then find the application in the list.
Right-click or press and hold the app, then select Uninstall.
Delete from Settings:
Click Start > Settings > Applications > Applications & features.
Find the software you wish to uninstall, then choose More >
Uninstall.
Note: Not all apps can currently be removed through the Settings app. See
the instructions below to uninstall these apps using the Control Panel if you
need help.
Remove via the Control Panel:
Type "Control Panel" into the taskbar search field and choose it
from the list of results.
Select Programs > Features and Programs.
To uninstall software, press and hold down the mouse button (or
use the right-click menu) and choose Uninstall or
Uninstall/Change. Observe the instructions on the screen.
Chapter 10
The shortcuts for copy and paste, which are usually Ctrl+Insert for copy and
Shift+Insert for paste, are different in some operating systems, such as
Windows 11. Moreover, there are other keyboard shortcuts for copying and
pasting that are designed for distinct uses.
Using Ctrl+A to select all of the text and then Ctrl+C to copy it, for
example, allows you to copy a complete document. The keyboard shortcut
Ctrl+Shift+C enables you to copy just the selected text if that's what you
want to do.
You can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+W to pick the word or phrase you
want to copy, and then use Ctrl+C to make the copy. Use Ctrl+Shift+L to
select the entire line of text, then hit Ctrl+C to copy it. This method works
for any length of text.
The shortcuts for copying and pasting work quite well when you need to
move content quickly from one place to another.
WINDOWS
One keyboard shortcut to quickly enter the Windows 11 start menu is the
Windows logo shortcut. All you have to do to use the Window Logo
shortcut is hit the Windows key on your keyboard.
Typically, the Windows key is located on the left side of your keyboard, in
between the Ctrl and Alt keys. The Windows 11 start menu will instantly
show on your screen after you press the Windows key.
After that, you may use your mouse or keyboard to browse the Start menu
and select the required files or programs to open.
The Windows Logo shortcut is a useful productivity tool that provides a
quick and easy way to open the Windows 11 start menu.
COMMAND PROMPT
In Windows 11, the Command Prompt is a text-based interface that allows
users to enter commands and receive the related output.
By employing a keyboard shortcut, users can quickly access the Command
Prompt interface with the Command Prompt shortcut. To access the
Command Prompt shortcut, press the Windows key and the letter "R" at the
same time.
This will cause the Run dialogue box to open. Type "cmd" into the Run
dialogue box and hit Enter. The Command Prompt interface will then open
as a result.
It turns out that using the Command Prompt shortcut is a more practical
way to open the Command Prompt interface than using the Windows 11
Start menu.
FILE EXPLORER
In Windows 11, the File Explorer shortcut offers a practical way to quickly
open the File Explorer window. Use the Windows key + E keyboard
shortcut to access the File Explorer.
By doing this operation, you will quickly be able to navigate your files and
directories in the File Explorer window.
The shortcut for File Explorer is a great way to save time, especially when
you need to access your files quickly.
Give the File Explorer shortcut a try the next time you find yourself in need
of opening the File Explorer window.
TASKBAR
Taskbar shortcuts offer a practical way to quickly access files and activate
programs.
Windows 11 allows you to make taskbar shortcuts for Universal Windows
Platform (UWP) and desktop applications.
Press and hold the Alt key, then press the letter or number that corresponds
to the app you want to open, to create a taskbar shortcut. To start the first
app on your taskbar, for example, hit Alt+1. To start the second app, press
Alt+2.
To start UWP apps, press the number corresponding to the app you wish to
open after holding down the Windows key.
Make sure you give taskbar shortcuts a try; they're a great way to increase
productivity and save time.
PRINT SCREEN
There are several ways to use the Print Screen feature in Windows 11.
1.
You can first choose the window and then hit "Alt + Print Screen" if you
want to take a photo of that specific window. With this operation, you can
save the selected window to your clipboard and have it captured. After that,
you can copy the picture into an image-editing application and store it for
later use.
Alternatively, you can use "Ctrl + Print Screen" to take a snapshot of the
entire screen without saving it as an image file. This command launches the
integrated Snipping Tool and takes a screenshot. You can then select how
you want to take a screenshot, save it as an image file, and send it
immediately to a friend or colleague.
SETTINGS
With Windows 11, a new feature called settings shortcuts allows users to
quickly access settings and choices with keyboard commands.
While moving files with the sidebar is an option, there are instances when
it's easier to move files by launching a second Explorer window. Press the
Windows key + E hotkey twice to open two windows to accomplish this.
Next, drag the file into the chosen directory by navigating to it in a separate
window.
Use the Ctrl key to move several files using the drag-and-drop method.
Holding down the Ctrl key, choose the files you want to move first. Release
the Ctrl key after selecting the desired files. After that, select the files with a
left click, hold them, and drag them to the desired folder. As you drag, the
amount that is selected will be shown as a numerical indicator on the files.
The keyboard shortcut for chopping files is Ctrl + X. Press this keyboard
shortcut to cut a file after selecting it. Then, you may use Ctrl + V to move
it to a different position.
Launch File Explorer and go to the directory where the file you
want to relocate is located.
Click the file with a right-click and select "Show more options."
Click the "Send to" drop-down option.
• To preview transferring a file into a custom folder without selecting it,
move the cursor over it.
• To initiate the file transfer into a particular directory, click a custom folder
while holding down the Shift key.
It's crucial to remember that this method only works with manually added
directories by users. For more details on how to include folders in this
submenu, see a tutorial on adding shortcuts to the Send to menu.
Step 5: After the creation of the ZIP file, feel free to rename it according to
your preference.
Extract ZIP File
You might find the need to extract a ZIP file, especially when someone
sends a zipped folder. The process is as straightforward as creating zip files.
The Windows Store offers a plethora of apps, and Mail is one of the pre-
installed programs in Windows 11. This eliminates the need to navigate
between browser pages by offering a handy way to access several email
accounts in one place. You must link the email accounts you want to view
mail from to the app to use this function. How to do this is explained in the
steps that follow.
After choosing your email server, proceed to follow the prompts to log in to
your email and grant the required permissions.
Once logged in, your emails will start to auto-populate. Please allow a few
minutes for all the emails to be retrieved.
To add a second account, click on the person icon to access "Accounts."
A new window titled "Manage accounts" will open, and at the bottom,
you'll find an "Add account" option. Repeat the steps you followed to add
the first account.
On the Mail app's left-side menu, you may verify the linkage between your
connected accounts. After connecting all of the appropriate accounts, repeat
this step and enjoy using Windows 11's Mail app to access them all in one
location.
CHAPTER 12
Replaced by the Voice Recorder in Windows 11, the Sound Recorder has an
updated interface with waveform displays and more input options. It can
record audio in AAC, MP3, WMA, FLAC, and WAV among other formats,
but it is still fairly basic and does not have audio trimming capabilities.
Experience Audio and Video Playback Using the
Updated Media Player
The Groove app was superseded by Windows 11's improved Media Player,
which is still a fun way to play music and films. Although it still requires
the older Media Player as of this writing, its UI is more user-friendly.
This is an old tip from Windows versions past; it is not activated by default
in Windows 11. You can use an option that allows you to shake the window
at the top to dismiss all other windows. This is a feature we frequently use
to clear clutter from our cluttered desktops and concentrate attention on the
open window.
Touchpad Gestures
Use your Windows 11 laptop's touchpad to experiment with the following
movements. Note that only precision touchpads can perform some of these
movements. Proceed to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Touchpad
to see if your laptop has one.
Action Gestures
Select an item Tap touchpad
Scroll Place two fingers on the touchpad
and slide horizontally or vertically
Zoom in or out Place two fingers on the touchpad
and pinch in or stretch out
Show more commands (like right- Tap the touchpad with two fingers
clicking) or press down in the lower-right
corner
Show all open windows Swipe with three fingers up on the
touchpad
Show the desktop Swipe with three fingers down on
the touchpad
Switch between open apps or Swipe with three fingers left or
windows right on the touchpad
Switch desktops Swipe with four fingers to the left
or right on the touchpad
CONCLUSION
In summary, Windows 11 marks a transformative shift in the Windows
operating system landscape, heralding a sophisticated and contemporary
interface along with heightened productivity features and refined
customization tools. The revamped Start menu exemplifies a more polished
design, complemented by innovative additions like Snap Layouts, Widgets,
and novel keyboard shortcuts, collectively fostering an enhanced and more
user-friendly environment. The seamless integration of Microsoft Teams,
the reimagined File Explorer featuring tabs, and the insightful battery usage
visualizations contribute significantly to the system's overall efficiency and
functionality.
Windows 11 strikes a balance by retaining a degree of familiarity from
earlier Windows iterations while introducing fresh elements and
optimizations tailored to diverse user preferences. The system's adaptability
is underscored by its ability to meet the multifaceted needs of a broad user
base.
Acknowledging the dynamic nature of technology, Windows 11's
commitment to regular updates and refinements positions it to continually
improve performance and address user feedback. Consequently, Windows
11 stands out as a notable advancement, successfully blending aesthetic
appeal with functional enhancements, and effectively meeting the evolving
demands of contemporary computing.
