Sub: Soil Protection/Conservation reg-

Respected Sir,
As we all are aware that Soil Erosion is the major problem in the world which
is rightly identified by the scientists all over the world. So, there is a need of the hour
to protect the soil now and preserve it for future generations. There are several reasons
which cause soil erosion and are need to be handled by following some measures for
soil conservation.
Due to urbanization, trees in the forests are being cut which has resulted in
erosion of the top soil. The population explosion in and around the world demands
increase in food production. For growing crops more and more land is tilled. Thus,
breaking top soil’s structure and its binding. This is prone to erosion of soil. The
farmers put pesticides in soil which kills the microorganisms present in the soil. These
microorganisms help the soil gain nutrients. Farmers are growing monochrome crops
to gain the profit without giving proper rest to the soil and proper rotation of crops is
also stopped due to which microbes are being extent. Excess amount of cattle grazing
is also one among many reasons of soil erosion. If all the nutrients are lost then the
soil will lose its fertility which will cause scarcity of food in the future. Because of
this, humans and other species of animals will disappear from the earth. To stop the
erosion of soil by implementing the soil conservation measures is very essential. Some
of the measures of soil conservation are as follows:

• Use of appropriate soil conservation methods and engineering structures to prevent

and control the deposition of land.
• Proper use of biomass manure, fertilizer and lime to increase soil productivity by
preventing chemical pollution.
• Use of shallow diversion drains that can shed excess water during periods of
excessive rainfall.
• To use developed methods of tillage, sowing and proper crop rotation, crop
production to conserve the soil moisture and prevent damages.
• Converting surface runoff into safe zones by building mechanical structures. This
method helps to fill the gaps.
So, I request you to ensure that to make some government policies or rules to
stop deforestations and encourage the scheme of planting trees by citizens of India and
to stop the use of chemical fertilizers. There should be Soil Conservation Awareness
Programs arranged to reach the proper message in the society. As a citizen of India,
we should take responsibility to plant minimum 10 trees in a year which leads to help
in soil protection. Soil conservation requires more time than it’s diminish. So, if we
start to follow the soil conservation measures from now then in few decades, the soil
will be in fine proportions of microbes which enhance the fertility for mankind.
Thank you for your consideration.

Yours Sincerely,

Yash
