Conditional Reading Practice

A. What would you do if you lost your phone?

Pamela, 16 years old

First I would look for it everywhere. If I couldn’t find it, I would cry because I use my phone
everyday and I wouldn’t have contact with my friends. I wouldn’t tell my parents that I lost my
phone and I would buy a new one. My parents would be very mad if they realized. I would pretend
that I never lost it.

B. What would you do if you forgot you had an important quiz today?

Manuel, 15 years old

I would be very nervous! I always study a lot before exams because I want to get good grades. I
would pretend to be sick and I would go to the doctor to ask for a note to excuse myself. I would
go home and study and take the quiz on a different day. I wouldn’t take the quiz if I didn’t feel
prepared. Having good grades is very important to me.

C. What would you do if your parents gave you a dog?

Carmela, 17 years old

I would be very happy! I would care for my new dog. We would go to the park everyday and I
would play with the dog in our garden at night. I would buy the dog many toys. I would sleep with
the dog every night and bring him to school to show him to all of my friends. I would name the
dog Junior.

D. What would you do if today was the last day of school?

Ramón 14 years old

I would celebrate! I would invite my friends to my house for a huge party. We would listen to
music and we would eat good food. We would dance until two in the morning and my friends
would sleep in my house. The next day we would wake up at noon and we would eat pizza for
breakfast. I like school but I would be very happy to have a break and to not stress over classes
