Rating & Weighting Using Vector Overlay Approach

Redo Part 2 of Lab Exercise 8 but this time use vector layers instead (Vector Overlay
Analysis)
1. To create proximity vector layer, use the Multiple Ring Buffer function (ArcToolbox >
Analysis Tool > Proximity > Multiple Ring Buffer)
2. Prepare the other vector layers by recoding values. You may add a new field to
contain the ratings. You may choose to delete other unnecessary fields.
3. Perform vector overlay using ArcToolbox > Analysis Tool > Overlay > Union.
4. Add a field in the final union layer and calculate the final rating of the each feature.

Compare and contrast the raster overlay process and the vector overlay process.
