1. Introduction
Coca-Cola, the market leader, is one of the most well-known soft drink brands
worldwide. In 1886, John Pemberton established Coca-Cola in Atlanta. In a fleeting time,
Coca-Cola became the most recognizable, well-liked, and widely disseminated brand in
the world. At present, James Quincey is this enormous partnership's CEO.
2. SWOT Analysis for Coca-Cola
A SWOT analysis of Coca-Cola can be used to identify the tactics that will improve the
company's standing and increase sales. In addition to the effects of competition, it
highlights shortcomings based on organizational and structural cultures. By considering
opportunities, the company can modify its initiatives and plans. To gain a more profitable
and steadier place in the market, the company must focus on growing its operations to
adjust to contemporary technology.
2.1 Strengths
• Resilient brand image - Coca-Cola is a renowned brand with a distinct
personality. Its best-selling beverages have made it well-known throughout the
world.
• The greatest level of customer loyalty and brand affinity – As a brand, Coca-
Cola has always evoked strong feelings in Americans. It has a strong degree of
customer loyalty and is connected to happiness. It is hard for consumers to
pinpoint their preferences and find alternatives. Moreover, Coca-Cola and
Fanta have larger fan bases than other beverage brands on the market.
2.2 Weaknesses
• Fierce rivalry with Pepsi- Pepsi is the primary competitor of Coca-Cola. Coca-
Cola would have been the beverage's undisputed market leader if Pepsi had not
entered the picture.
• Health concerns – Fizzy drinks are the primary source of excessive sugar
consumption, which leads to diabetes and obesity, two grave health issues. Coca-
Cola is the biggest manufacturer of carbonated drinks, despite many medical
professionals advising against consuming them. Coca-Cola has not yet created a
healthy alternative to deal with this problem.
2.3 Opportunities
• Develop a modern supply chain system- Logistics and supply chain management
are crucial to Coca-Cola's commercial activities. The cost of fuel and
transportation is always rising. Thus, there may be a chance to design a more
efficient distribution system.
• Launching new goods and cutting back on added sugar- Coca-Cola can expand its
product line in the food and health drink industry by introducing novel items. By
expanding your brand beyond fizzy drinks, you may boost sales and brand
recognition. In its most recent annual report, Coca-Cola stated that it is improving
and making sugar content reduction a priority. As a result, 28% of its volume is
sold as low- or zero-calorie beverages.
• Bottled Drinking Water - The Kinley line of bottled water is owned by Coca-Cola.
In this market, Coca-Cola has much room to grow. Expanding and introducing
new nutrient-dense drinks to the market is an opportunity to allay criticism.
2.4 Threats
• Economic uncertainty: The recent events have severely impacted the revenues,
supply and distribution networks, and corporate operations of many multinational
corporations. The closing of restaurants, movie theatres, and other establishments
that contributed to around half of Coca-Cola's income in 2020 caused a sharp
decline in the company's earnings.
2.5 Conclusion
Coca-Cola had a competitive advantage in the market ever since they implemented their
plans. Having first used the SWOT analysis to identify the company's opportunities,
threats, weaknesses, and strengths, the tactics employed by the company demonstrated its
aims and ambitions.
