As a person who is financially irresponsible, this project has led me to the right solution,

that would help me with my funds when I go away to college. It also helped me find many

sources that I could use in the future for when I make life changing choices. For this project I had

to budget for an apartment, a car, bills I would have to pay and for everyday spending. After

using the calculator to find what my monthly wage was, I got a little nervous. I know that I

would have to spend this money wisely so I could live a little bit comfortable in my early 20’s, as

well as being financially responsible.

After finding a car that would be able to take me to school and back and to help me run

my daily errands, I had to find car insurance. So, if I would get into any car accident, I would be

able to have support, being that my financial state wouldn’t be so flexible. I decided to go the

cheaper route and get a 2010 Toyota Camry so I would be able to save for a better and long-

lasting car in the future. But with my auto loan and my monthly car payment, every month

$400.54 was taken out of my monthly salary, I wasn’t really left with much to save.

For my apartment which is the costliest of my budget, I decided to find a place that was

closer to school, so my personal gas price wouldn’t be so high. With each paycheck, I take out at

least 50 dollars that is only for gas which would have a sum of $100-$120 depending on how

much I have to spare. For my monthly rent the total came up to $1,086.77 including the water
bill ($25.10), my renter’s insurance ($10.58) and the gas and electric bill ($76.09). Being that my

apartment comes furnished I wouldn’t have to worry about the payments for that.

Now groceries, I am a very clean person so the first thing I knew I had to include were

cleaning products which took up at least 20% of my cart. Then I decided to be a little wise with

my cart so I decided to buy things in large amounts, so I could stock up and not have to buy

much throughout the month. With all that my cart came up to $109.51.

As a girl I must keep up with my hairstyles and my hygiene. For every month I decided

to put at least $300 to keep looking like the cute girl I am. As well as maintaining healthy habits

for my hygiene as a girl, this $300 also included all the products I would use to maintain these

habits.

It doesn’t sound like much, but this budget has really helped me put my money towards

my priorities, so I don’t splurge all the money I earn. Having all these responsibilities has also

helped me notice how I would have to manage my time wisely as a college student, as well as

managing my money. Seeing how much money I have left to spare isn’t such a great sight.

Which helps motivate me to strive toward a great earning job, that will give me more flexibility

in life, as well as learning how to manage such a large amount without wasting it all.
