5. How to improve product quality

As we know, enhancing product quality is vital for sustainability in long-term turnover
and profitability. It facilitates the development of customer trust and recommendations
while lowering complaints and return rates. Because of its importance, there are many
approaches to improve product quality, and today we will present 6 of them, as you can
see on the screen. First, integrating the quality concept into the culture of the enterprise is
one of the most crucial things. For this concept to be effective, it must be instilled into
employers’ or employees’ working principles. That aslo means, not only heads or
employers but also employees can actively participate in the development and decision-
making processes, and thereby make constructive comments on product quality and how
to improve it. Secondly, evaluate procedures regularly. Through regular and elaborate
analyses, the firm can identify and tackle any bottleneck head-on while also anticipating
incident problems and streamlining business processes. Some methods recommended to
enhance production processes are keeping processes and technologies up-to-date, paying
adequate attention to scheduled maintenance, utilizing software to keep track of inventory
levels, and organizing internal training sessions frequently, especially by implementing
the Training Within Industry (TWI). TWI is an efficient methodology that allows
frontline managers, team leaders, and employees to be involved in hands-on coaching and
learning This program consists of 4 core components: Job Instruction Training, Job
Relations Training, Job Methods Training, and Program Development. Thirdly, executing
a Quality Management System (QMS) is undoubtedly a need for every enterprise. A
QMS refers to a validated system that records processes, methods, and roles for realizing
quality policies and objectives with respect to generating and distributing high-quality
products. Consistency is what a QMS aims to achieve. Every purchase should be met
with the same level of quality that clients have come to expect from the enterprise. A
formalized QMS can provide the enterprise with 2 potential benefits. First, it fulfills
customer needs, which boosts sales and repeat business, as well as attracts new
customers. Second, it fulfills organizational needs, which ensures that the regulations are
strictly followed and that goods and services are provided in the most cost- and resource-
effective way. These two benefits come with some advantages: defining and enhancing
processes, minimizing waste, cost reduction, expediting training opportunities, etc. This
possibly opens up opportunities for development and earnings increase by guaranteeing
consistent quality. One example of a QMS is ISO 9001:2015 - the most widely used and
recognized QMS standard in the world. Below is 7 QMS principles described in this
model: customer focus, leadership, engagement of people, process approach,
improvement, evidence-based decision making, relationship management.
