TYPE OF TEXT: EXPOSITORY TEXT

Expository text is a type of nonfiction writing that is meant to


inform, explain, describe, or define a topic.
-Its primary purpose is to convey factual information and to provide
readers with a deeper understanding of a subject.
-It tends to explain, illustrate, clarify, or explicate something in a
way that becomes clear for readers.
-Examples of expository texts include textbooks, encyclopedias,
newspaper articles, scientific reports, and instructional manuals.

TYPES OF EXPOSITORY TEXT

1. DESCRIPTION. Describes something, someplace,


some experience, or some situation through sensory
information.

Example: The sunset filled the entire sky with the deep color of

photosynthesis is a vital process for the survival of plants and
