Calibrate Throttle Position Sensor

NOTE:

Machine is equipped with one of two monitor types, see Determine Monitor Configuration (Group 9015B-
16) to determine monitor. See appropriate monitor procedure within this section. For machines equipped
with:

l Monitor display unit (MDU) see Throttle Position Sensor Calibrate—Monitor Display Unit (MDU) .
l Standard display monitor (SDM) see Throttle Position Sensor Calibrate—Standard Display
Monitor (SDM) .

Throttle Position Sensor Calibrate—Monitor Display Unit (MDU)

NOTE:

A video for this procedure can be viewed under the animations folder in Service ADVISOR ™ manuals
menu.

1. NOTE:

Laptop must be disconnected from machine before calibrating throttle position sensor.

Key must be in off position for 10 seconds before calibrating the throttle position sensor.

Engine Off. Park Brake On. FNR in Neutral.

2. Press SELECT button and hold while turning the key to ON position, continue to hold SELECT button until the hour
meter icon appears in the display window then release SELECT button.

3. Press and hold SELECT button until the battery icon appears in display window and then release SELECT button.

4. Press and hold SELECT button until the hour meter icon appears in display window and then release SELECT button.

5. (dIAG) will appear in the display window followed by (ProG) . Wait until (PCAL) appears in display window and
immediately press SELECT button and release.

The check service code light will be flashing . If check service code light is not flashing, turn key to off position for
10 seconds and start the procedure again.

6. Move the engine speed control lever slowly from slow idle to fast idle and keep it there for 3 seconds.

7. Move the engine speed control lever slowly from fast idle to slow idle and keep it there for 3 seconds.

8. Press SELECT button and release. The service code light will go off and return to normal working mode.

Throttle Position Sensor Calibrate—Standard Display Monitor (SDM)

1. NOTE:

Key must be in OFF position for 10 seconds before calibrating the throttle position sensor.

Engine Off. Park Brake On. FNR in Neutral.

2. NOTE:

When the Service Menu is accessed, the SDM will stay in the Service Menu even if the SDM
display is returned to the Normal Display. Cycling the key switch to OFF, then back to ON resets
the SDM to the Normal Menu.

Key ON, access SERVICE MENU. Press and hold the MENU button for approximately 5 seconds until a pop-up
display with SERVICE MENU temporarily appears on the display.

3. Press MENU to enter MAIN MENU. Within the main menu, press the NEXT button until MAIN MENU DIAGNOSTIC
displays and press SELECT.

4. Press NEXT until HAND THRTL CAL appears on the display, press SELECT.

5. Display will show SET THROTTLE FAST HOLD AT LEAST 3 SEC THEN PRESS SELECT.

6. Move the engine speed control lever slowly from slow idle to fast idle and keep it there for 3 seconds, press SELECT.

7. Move the engine speed control lever slowly from fast idle to slow idle and keep it there for 3 seconds, press SELECT.

8. NOTE:

If at any time CALIBRATION FAILED appears, repair machine and perform calibration again.

Display will show HAND THRTL CAL SUCCESSFUL press SELECT to confirm calibration or BACK to cancel.
