“Digital Marketing”

I. Narrative Report

The webinar that was conducted on February 24, 2024, was led by Mr. Shin Jara. The
topic that was tackled was web design and development. He talked about the benefits of web
design and development, such as the following: it makes navigation easy, provides visual content
on the website, increases sales, reaches out to more clients, is resourceful in marketing and
advertising, and so much more. After that, he talked about the types of web development, and
there are four: front-end, back-end, devops, and full stack. Front-end development creates the
visual and interactive parts of a website that users directly interact with; examples of this are
HTML, CSS, buttons, etc. Backend-to-end development deals with the server-side of web
applications, which includes data management and front-end request processing; examples of
this are phyton, PHP, user authentication, and more. Moving on, Devops development is a
method in which developers and operations teams work closely together throughout the software
development lifecycle to automate processes and deliver better software more quickly; examples
of this are Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, and more. Full Stack development involves working on
both the frontend and backend of a web application to provide end-to-end solutions; examples of
this are apps like project management, gaming, and so on. Moving on, he mentioned some web
design tools like Sketch, Marvel, Figma, Adobe, ProtoPie, etc. Then, he listed some
programming languages such as Java, Ruby, and Swift; frameworks such as Laravel, Apache,
and Monitis; and CMS tools such as WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal. The next topic he tackled
was about digital marketing, wherein it was stated that it is the promotion of products or brands
using different forms of electronic media. After that, the types of digital marketing were
discussed; there were a lot, so I will only mention a few of them, such as email marketing,
mobile marketing, influencer marketing, social media marketing, and so much more. These are
the topics that were covered during the webinar.

II. Learning Insights

The webinar has helped me understand the importance of web design and development in
improving the user experience, increasing sales, reaching out to clients, and more. It also helped
me recognize the different types of web development, including front-end, back-end, devops, and
full-stack, each serving distinct purposes in creating web applications. It taught me that website
development is the foundation or the heart. In addition, I learned about various web design tools,
programming languages, frameworks, and CMS tools used in the development process. I also
gained insight into the significance of digital marketing in promoting products or brands through
electronic media, reaching a wider audience compared to traditional marketing methods;
recognizing the diverse range of digital marketing strategies available, such as email marketing,
mobile marketing, influencer marketing, and social media marketing, each catering to specific
target audiences and objectives; and learning about the importance of leveraging various digital
marketing channels effectively to create cohesive and impactful marketing campaigns.
Moreover, it taught me the skills that I need to possess in digital marketing. For the hard skills, I
must have sales skills, coding, analysis, and copywriting. While for the soft skills, it contains
creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and leadership. Digital marketing is an essential
component of modern business strategies, providing a dynamic platform for reaching and
engaging with customers in today's digital age. Its importance stems from its ability to cross
geographical boundaries and connect businesses with a global audience via various online
channels such as social media, email, and search engines. Unlike traditional marketing methods,
digital marketing enables precise targeting, allowing businesses to tailor their messages to their
target audience's demographics, interests, and behaviors. Furthermore, digital marketing
produces measurable results, allowing businesses to track campaign performance in real time and
make data-driven decisions to improve marketing efforts.In essence, digital marketing is a
powerful tool for businesses to raise brand awareness, drive traffic, generate leads, and
ultimately increase sales in an increasingly competitive market. We can get experience by taking
online courses, creating our own, doing freelance work, looking for internships, and so much
more. Let us be reminded that practice makes perfect, and big things start from small beginnings.
