SPEAKING SAMPLE TEST


Time: 12 minutes per pair of students
Interlocutor (to student A): Hi. Can I have your full name, please?
(to student B): And your name, please. Thank you.
(to both students): In this speaking test there are 3 parts. Let’s start part 1.
In the first part, I will ask each of you 4 questions on 2 different topics.

PART 1. INTERLOCUTOR - STUDENT INTERACTION


Interlocutor (to student A): Here are the questions for you.
Let’s talk about Work & Study
1. What do you study?
2. What do you like about your study here?
Let’s talk about House
1. Do you live in a house or a flat? Where is it?
2. Do you like to have a small garden? Why/Why not?

Interlocutor (to student B): Here are the questions for you.
Let’s talk about Family & Friends
1. Do you have a small or a big family?
2. What do you often do with your family?
Let’s talk about Daily routines
1. What is your favourite part of the day?
2. What do you often do after school/work?

PART 2. TOPIC DEVELOPMENT


Interlocutor (to both students): Now, let’s move to part 2, topic development. In the second
part each of you will be given a topic and you will have 1 minute to prepare before speaking.
While your partner is presenting the topic, you need to listen and take notes
(to student A): Here is your topic. (Giving the topic to student A)
(to student B): And here is yours. (Giving the topic to student B)
(to both students): Now you have 1 minute to prepare.
Student A: Describe a person in your family you really admire.
You should say:
 Who the person is
 How the person is
 What you usually do together
And explain why you admire him/ her
Student B: Describe your best friend.
You should say:
 When and where you first met this person
 How the person is
 What you often do together
And explain why the person becomes your best friend
[1 minute preparation]
Interlocutor (to student A): Now, please present your topic.
(to student B): Please listen and take notes.
[Student A has finished.]
Interlocutor (to student B): Now, it’s your turn. Please present your topic.
(to student A): Please listen and take notes.
[Student B has finished.]

PART 3: STUDENT - STUDENT INTERACTION


Interlocutor (to both students): OK, both of you have presented your topics. Now, you will
have to ask your partner 2 questions related to the topic your partner has presented.
(to student B): OK, you ask your questions first.
[Students B has asked questions and student A has responded to them.]
(to student A): Now, it's your turn. Please ask your partner 2 questions.
[Students A has asked questions and student B has responded to them.]
