Activity #3: Determine by manually computing the real root of the following equations using the
Bisection Method (up to 3rd iteration) and using your spreadsheet application until the estimated error
e falls below 1x10^-6.

Therefore, the root of the equation is 0.55702555 at iteration 22 which the estimated
error result falls below 1x10^-6 is 6.934x10^-7.

Therefore, the root of the equation is 3.021807671 at iteration 20 which the

estimated error result falls below 1x10^-6 is 7.34454x10^-8.

Activity #4: Determine the root of the following equations using the False-Position. Show your manual
computation until 3rd iteration only and method using spreadsheet application until the estimated error
e falls below 1x10^-6.

Therefore, we stop at iteration 8 because it’s satisfy already the error result of 1.13123x10^-7.
So, the root of the equation 𝑓(𝑥) = 𝑥-cos(𝑥) is 0.739085113

Therefore, we stop at iteration 7 because it’s satisfy already the error result of 2.9964x10^-7. So,
the root of the equation 𝑓(𝑥) = tan(𝑥 2)+0.1x is 3.021807681

Therefore, we stop at iteration 12 because it’s satisfy already the error result of 8.47553x10^7.
So, the root of the equation 𝑓(𝑥) = 𝑥 2+12x+8 is -0.708497379
