Usually dry with medium acidity and medium tannis primary character changes with ripeness (

if it is just ripe , is light to medium body with fresh trust strawberry, red plum and some herbaceous note ( green bell pepper )
Riper Merlot is medium to full body cooked black fruit blackberry black plum

Merlot is often blended with high tannis such us Cabernet Sauvignon


To lower the tannis level

Merlot can be oaked or unoaked

Bordeaux moderate climate and high level of rainfall

Bordeaux AOC or Bordeaux superieur AOC are usually Merlot dominant blends
