Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
Background and rationale
Work Breakdown Structure is defined as the art of breaking down the main project into smaller tasks which can be done at different levels of the project. The
tasks names should be understandable by all involved and should mean the same to the concerned stakeholders. WBS shows the progress of the project and
helps to control the project in the desired manner. WBS is a helpful method for the project as it serves as a guide to doing regular checks on the project
development and keeps a focus on the lagging activities to complete the project in the desired time. WBS also illustrates the ordering of raw materials efficiently,
which makes a reduction in the overall cost and time of the project possible.

Hierarchy
Hierarchy is a list of activities illustrated in such a way that it shows the dependencies and the order of the flow of instructions. WBS hierarchy helps the project
team group different activities and identify the dependent or parallel activities of the project, which would guide the project manager plan and control the project
without any delays. The hierarchy for the construction of the house of Mr and Mrs Symonds is done below with the help of the WBS made earlier. The Hierarchy
below shows the path of the flow of information in the project starting from top being of the highest importance.
