Important Notes

 To get entry to the exam, a DP of at least 40% is required.

 Final Mark = Year Mark (40%) + Exam Mark (60%)
 Year Mark:
• 3x tests (25%)
• Weekly tutorials (20%)
• WinQS (5%)

A sick test will be written towards the end of the year, covering all the
academic content

 To pass module:
• Exam Mark - Minimum of 40%
• Final Mark – 50%
Important Notes

Additional requirements for attaining duly performed (DP) certificates -

 Exemption from handing in tutorials, practical exercises, writing tests, etc., will only be
considered after receipt of the required documentary proof concerning the reason for
non-performance, e.g. a medical certificate.

 In the event of medical reasons, the doctor's medical certificate has to be submitted to the
relevant lecturer no later than three working days after the date on which the doctor
sees it fit for the student to return to lectures, etc. (as indicated on the medical
certificate). The validity of medical certificates will be followed-up.

 A zero mark will be awarded for tutorials, practical exercises, assignments, etc. not
handed in on time.

 Students who do not abide by these rules cannot submit late projects / tutorials or sit
for a special (sick) test.
Important Notes
 A mark of at least 30% for the tutorial sessions and a class mark of at least 40% are required to
qualify for the examination.
 All marked tests will be returned to students in class after the test has been marked. Any marked test
not collected during that lecture will be put in the QS pigeon-hole cupboard. The lecturer does not
take any responsibility if marked tests get lost after that.
 On receipt of tutorial/test scripts, students have two weeks to query their marks.
 NO CHANGES TO ANY MARKS WILL BE CONSIDERED AFTER THIS TWO WEEK PERIOD, NO
EXCEPTION, FOR WHATEVER REASON.
 Special test. See Departmental Guide. Also keep in mind that you must write at least two of the
other tests to be allowed to write the special test.
“Working together”
 Although the forming of ‘study groups’ where students study together (for tests and examinations) is
encouraged, this should not be done when doing tutorials. “Working together” when doing tutorials
means that it is not your own work and no marks will be allocated.
Important Notes
NOTE: YOU ARE EXPECTED TO KNOW THE CONTENTS OF THE KMM AND KES 1 AND 2
MODULES
Memorandums: No memorandums will be handed out. However, the tutorials and tests will be discussed
with you in detail, giving you the opportunity to correct your mistakes. You are always welcome to
discuss any work that you do not understand with me; unless you failed to attend the lecture session
(without a valid reason) where it was discussed.

Attendance will be monitored and registers will be circulated during the lecture times.
