Pioneering architectural solutions
Since 2016, the Swiss town of Dübendorf has been synonymous with pioneering building research and sustainable archi-
tecture. Incorporating the latest Hi-Lo (high performance, low emissions) module, the NEST research building in Düben-
dorf is the jewel in the crown of a building experiment that significantly reduces the use of materials thanks to an inno-
vative method of roof and floor construction and also conserves resources in the long term thanks to adaptive building
technology. The striking arched segments fill intricate glass façades and heat-insulating profile systems from Forster,
which in turn contribute to the overall sustainability.

Sustainability at Forster
The issues of sustainability and respect for the environment have never been as present in society, politics and industry as they are today.
However, Forster Profilsysteme AG has always played its part in this. Its internal processes ensure that the resources it uses are emplo-
yed as sparingly as possible, and it develops products that, at the end of the building’s service life, can largely – if not completely – be
returned to the material cycle and reused.

forster thermfix vario Hi
Highly heat-insulated curtain wall
An aesthetic masterpiece designed to meet the Passive House standard. The forster
thermfix vario Hi curtain wall meets the highest Passive House efficiency class phA
and therefore offers excellent thermal insulation. The steel profile system can be
used to create impressive field sizes – even for very slim profiles with a width of 45
or 60 mm. Since the Passive House-certified system is based on the forster thermfix
vario standard mullion / transom construction, many components can be used across
systems. This means that different burglar resistance and fire protection require-
ments can be taken into account on a building while maintaining the same appea-
Transom
rance across the entire façade. The curtain wall system can ideally be combined with
the forster unico, forster unico XS and forster omnia profile systems to accommo-
date window and door components with appropriate heat insulation requirements.
