11. Reason for Referral:

She was referred to undergo psychological testing to determine her
cognitive capabilities and dynamics of her personality. Test results will be
used as part of her admission requirements for Home for Girls.

Ill. Assessment Tools Used:

Wide Range Intelligence Test
NEO-PI-3
Trauma Symptom Checklist for Children (TSCC)
Rorschach Inkblot Test (RIAP)
IV. General Observations:
Fe seemed reserved when she entered the center. She spoke in a
small and soft voice. She needed additional prompts and assistance before
she can provide a response to the question or task presented to her. she
was generally cooperative while test taking.

V. Test Results and Interpretation:

Test Data:
The Wide Range Intelligence Test (WRIT) has four subtests of
cognitive ability that assess verbal and non-verbal abilities relevant in
school. The Verbal scale is made up of the Vocabulary and Verbal
Analogies subtests, whilst the Visual (non-verbal) scale consists of the
Matrices and Diamonds subtests.

Standard Score Percentile Rank

Verbal Analogies 0.07
Vocabulary 6
Matrices 61 0.9
Diamonds 8
Sum Of Standard Scores IQ Percentile Rank
Verbal IQ 127 0.8
Visual IQ 140 1
Total 267 0.4
Verbal Ability

Fe achieved a very low score in Verbal Analogy subtest (Standard

Score 50, 0.07 percentile). This suggests that she has a very poor ability to
use the context Of a sentence effectively to generate an answer, i.e. use the
clues provided by the sentence to come up with the right word.
The Vocabulary subtest requires her to define a word verbally, which
have been prescntcd orally. She achieved a borderline score in this subtest
(Standard Score 77, 6th percentile). She gave few responses to the majority
of the questions and displayed poor use of expressive vocabulary in the

Combining these two scores gives an indication of the verbal of

intelligence — also as crystallized ability. Here her scorc was within the
very low band (Standard Score 60, 0.8 percentile). This measure is
dependent on the Imowledge, skills and vocabulary built up over a lifetime.
Non-Verbal Ability
The Matrices subtest requires her to select a picture from a series in
order to complete an initial incomplete picture stimulus. This test
assesses non-verbal reasoning, visual observation and pattern
recognition. Her score here was in the very low band (Standard Score 61,
0.9 percentile). She exhibited very poor proficiency in reasoning and
spatial ability.
The Diamonds subtest requires the construction of patterns using
diamond shaped pieces. It necessitates spatial ability, visual perception
(interpreting and analyzing what is seen) and combining the visual with
fine motor skills. Her score in this test was in the borderline band
(Standard Score 79, 8th percentile).
These two scores give an indication of visual intelligence — or 'fluid
ability'. This is the ability to solve new problems and understand the
relationships of various concepts and is thought to be independent of
acquired knowledge. A combined score of the Matrices and Diamonds
tests gave her a very low score for non-verbal ability (Standard Score 64,
1st percentile).

Overall test result reveals that she has a very low intellectual functioning (IQ of
56, 0.4 percentile). Her ability to profit from experience, acquire structured and,
scholastics Imowledge, solve mental problem is very poor.

NEO-PI-3

Her result indicate she is occasionally nervous or apprehensive,

but no more so than the average individual. She sometimes feels
frustrated, irritable, and angry at others, but she has only the occasional
periods of unhappiness that most people experience. Embarrassment or
shyness when dealing with people, especially strangers, is not a problem
for her. She reports being average at controlling her impulses and desires
and she is able to handle stress as well as most people.
She is somewhat formal and distant in her relationships with
others and she rarely enjoys large and noisy crowds or parties. She is
reluctant to assert herself and prefers to stay in the background in
meetings and group discussions. Fe has a moderate level of personal
eneror and an average activity level. Excitement, stimulation, and thrills
have little appeal to her and she is less prone to experience feelings of joy
and happiness than most girls.
In experiential style, she is generally closed. She considers
daydreaming and fantasy a waste of time, and has a limited imagination.
She is like most people in her appreciation of beauty in music, art, poetry,
and nature, but her feelings and emotional reactions are muted and
unimportant to her. She seldom enjoys new and different activities and has
a low need for variety in her life. She is not interested in intellectual
pursuits for their own sake.
She has moderate trust in others, but is not gullible, recognizing that
people can sometimes be deceptive. She is willing at times to flatter or trick
people into doing what she wants, and she tends to put her own needs and
interests before others'. This individual often gives in to others, and is
reluctant to express anger even when it is justified. She is quite proud of
herself and her accomplishments, and happy to take credit for them.
Compared to other people, she is hard-headed and tough-minded, and her
social and political attitudes reflect her pragmatic realism.
She is sometimes inefficient or unprepared, and has not developed
her skills and talents fully. She is moderately neat, punctual, and well
organized, and she is reasonably dependable and reliable in meeting her
obligations. She has a moderately high need for achievement, but she can
also set work/ school aside for recreation. She is average in self-discipline
and generally finishes the tasks she starts. She is cautious and deliberate
and thinks carefully before acting.
Personality Correlates: Some Possible Implications
Coping and Defenses

In coping with the stresses of everyday life, she is not very likely to
react with ineffective responses, such as hostile reactions toward others,
selfblame, or escapist fantasies. She is more likely to use faith and less
likely to use humor in responding to threats, losses, and challenges. In
addition, she is somewhat less likely to use positive thinking and direct
action in dealing with problems. She is more likely to present a defensive
facade of superiority than to be self-sacrificing. She may use such defense
mechanisms as acting out and projection.
Somatic Complaints

She likely responds in a normal fashion to physical problems and

illness. She is prone neither to exaggerate nor tó minimize physical
symptoms and is fairly objective in assessing the seriousness of any
medical problems that she might have.

Psychological Well-being
Although her mood and satisfaction with various aspects of her life
will vary with the circumstances, in the long run she is likely to experience
the normal course of positive and negative feelings and be generally
content with life. Because she is closed to experience, her moods may be
less intense and varied than those of the average girl.
Cognitive Processes
She is likely to be less complex and differentiated in thoughts,
values, and moral judgments than others of her level of intelligence and
education. She would also probably score lower on measures of ego
development.
Interpersonal Characteristics
Many theories propose a circular arrangement of interpersonal traits
around the axes of Love and Status. Within such systems, she would likely
be described as aloof, reserved, arrogant, calculating, and especially cold
and unfeeling. Her traits are associated with low standing on the
interpersonal dimension of Love.
Needs and Motives

Fe is likely to show high levels of the following needs: cognitive

structure and harm avoidance (avoiding danger). She is likely to show low
levels of the following needs: abasement, affiliation, change, dominance,
nurturance, play, and understanding (intellectual stimulation).

Her test results indicate elevations in the facets of Anxiety and
subfacet of Sexual Concerns — Sexual Distress.

Her clinically elevated scores on the Anxiety scale may reflect

posttraumatic fears associated with previous victimization or with having
witnessed violence against others. She may be experiencing generalized
anxiety, hyper-arousal, and worry, as well as specific fears of men or
women, of the dark, and of being killed. She may also report episodes of
free-floating anxiety and fears of impending danger.
Individuals scoring high on the Sexual Concerns- Sexual Disturbance
sub-facet tend to report sexual conflicts, sexual dysfunction, and a general
negative reaction to sexual situation. The subscale items tap sexual anxiety,
negative thoughts and feelings during sex, sexual problems in relationships,
and shame regarding sexual activities or feelings.

RIAP

Fe has produced a valid record that should ordinarily provide reliable

information about her personality functioning. test results shows she
appears to be suscepüble to episodes of affective disturbance that are likely
to involve features of depression. She may not necessarily complain of
feeling depressed or emofionally upset, but she is nevertheless disposed to
affective malaise that interferes with her ability to function effectively.
Situational related stress is making more demands on her adaptive
capacities than she ordinarily is required or accustomed to confront, and this
may be reducing her usual level of effectiveness in making decisions and
pursuing courses of action. Her excess situational stress is being imposed on
a preexisting chronic stimulus overload, resulting in considerable
vulnerability to become upset, anxious, and disorganized. Insufficient
psychological resources to meet the demands she is experiencing are also
likely to impair her capacity for self-control and to create a marked
tendency toward impulsiveness in what she thinks, says, and/or does.

She appears to be in a state of chronic and substantial stimulus

overload resulting from persistent difficulW in mustering adequate
psychological resources to cope with the demands being imposed on her by
internal and external events in her life. Consequently, she is at risk for
recurrent episodes of overt anxiety, tension, nervousness, and irritability.
People with this pattern of stimulus overload tend to have limited tolerance
for frustration and a less than average ability to persevere in the face of
obstacles. They may consequently show a tendency toward impulsive
outbursts of unwarranted affect and/or ill-advised actions. The degree of her
stimulus overload is likely to be preoccupying and disorganizing; even in
fairly structured situations, in which she knows what is expected of her, she
is at risk for becoming psychologically incapacitated lat least temporarily)
and for appearing to others as noticeably agitated and distraught to others.
She demonstrates generally good abilities to perceive events
conventionally without sacrificing her individuality, to form accurate
impressions about herself, to interpret the actions and intentions of
others without distortion, to adequately anticipate the consequences of
her own actions, and to correctly construe what constitutes appropriate
behavior in various kinds of situations. Her good reality testing
constitutes a substantial
personality strength. Despite being capable of exercising good reality
testing, she often opts for unconventional ways of perceiving people and
events. As a consequence, she is at times likely to act in idiosyncratic ways
without much concern for the social acceptability of her behavior.
She displays adaptive capacity to think logically and coherently, and
is, for the most part, as capable as most people of this age of coming to
reasonable conclusions about relationships between events and of
maintaining a connected flow of associations in which ideas follow each
other in a comprehensible manner.
She appears to compare herself unfavorably to other people and
consequently to suffer from low self-esteem and limited self-confidence.
She appears to be less capable than most people of dealing
effectively with everyday experience, especially with respect to social
situations. Her limited social skills are likely to be contributing to
awkward, inept, or inappropriate management of interpersonal
relationships.
She gives evidence of limited capacity to form close attachments to
other people. Although she may not necessarily avoid interpersonal
relationships, these relationships tend to be psychologically at arm's length
rather than close and intimate.
She shows less interest in other people than ordinarily would be
expected. Such limited interpersonal interest constitutes a personality
liability and is likely to be associated with her having infrequent or mostly
superficial relationships with other people.
She is likely to be behaviorally passive and acquiescent in her
interpersonal relationships, preferring to let others take the initiative and
make decisions.

VI. Summary and Recommendations:

Fe was referred to undergo psychological evaluation to determine the
dynamics of her personality and ascertain possible psychopathologies. She is
reported to have been sexually trafficked and abused. During the interview, she
was quite responsive although she spoke in a soft almost iñaudible voice.
Below are the salient features of her test results.
Her cognitive test results reveal that she has very low intellectual ability.
She has very low verbal ability, which connotes that she has a very poor ability
to acquire inforrnation and adequately perform in jobs that require verbal
expressive and receptive communication skills. Her non-verbal ability is very
low suggesting very poor capacity for nonverbal reasoning, analogical
reasoning, spatial ability, and verbal mediation strategies to solve visual tasks
and other related spatial skills.
Her cognitive ability resembles those who have Mild Intellectual
Disability. She demonstrates difficulties in learning academic skills involving
reading, and writing. On the other hand, she displays adaptive capacity to think
logically and coherently, and is, for the most part, as •capable as most people of
this age of coming to reasonable conclusions about relationships between events
and of maintaining a connected flow of associations in which ideas follow each
other in a comprehensible manner.
She has limited understanding of risk in social situations; social judgment
is immature for age, and she maybe is at risk of being manipulated by others
(gullibility). Nonetheless, she demonstrates generally good abilities to perceive
events conventionally without sacrificing her individuality, to form accurate
impressions about herself, to interpret the actions and intentions of others
without distortion. Her good reality testing constitutes a substantial personality
strength. Despite being capable of exercising good reality testing, she often opts
for unconventional ways of perceiving people and events. As a consequence, she
is at firnes likely to act in idiosyncratic ways without much concern for the
social acceptability of her behavior.
Fe's most distinctive personality feature is her standing on the factor of
Extraversion. She is quite introverted, preferring to do most things alone or with
small groups of people. She appears to have limited to manage interpersonal
relationships in a comfortable and rewarding manner. She may conduct herself
appropriately in social situations and at times, even make an initially favorable
impression on other people. Nevertheless, as a consequence of inadequate social
skills that may not be readily apparent, she tends to opt for superficial and
transient relationships with others and to back away from involved or prolonged
relationships out of concern that they will make more demands on her than she
can handle. In addition, her social ineptness may make her vulnerable to
experiencing embarrassment and failure in social situations and to being
iB10red or rejected by others who see her as a distant, guarded, and ineffective
person. Individuals with this pattern of deficient coping can frequently benefit
from treatment focused on interpersonal anxiety reduction and social skills
training.

She does not appear to be as introspective as most people. Because of her

lack of self-awareness, she is at risk for adjustment difficulties involving
inadequate understanding of herself, insufficient appreciation of the impact she
has on other people, and a limited capacity 10 examine herself in a critical
fashion and then modify her behavior accordingly
Fe's TSCC result indicates elevated scores in the facets sof Anxiety and Sexual Concems — Sexual
Distress. Such results suggest that she may be anxious about experiencing unpleasant sexual encounters.

RIAP test result shows she appears much less willing than most people to
process emotional stimulation. Because of her aversion to becoming engaged in
affectively charged situations, she is at risk for being socially and emotionally
withdrawn. Reluctance to process affect does not preclude a person's being
interested in and capable of forming attachments to other people. However, the
emergence of strong feelings often leads people like her to break off an
interpersonal interaction, and their aversion to emotionality may limit their social
attractiveness. This finding is of particular concern in a person her age, because it
suggests that she may be avoiding or approaching with excessive caution the
kinds of everyday interactions that are necessary for normative development in
young people. In her case, this aversion to emotionality coincides with the
previously noted indications that she is reluctant or even fearful of expressing her
feelings openly. Ordinarily, persons who are emotionally constricted seek to
minimize their involvement in affectively charged situations in which they might
be expected to express feelings in ways that are difficult for them.
She appears to be susceptible to episodes of affective disturbance that are
likely to involve features of depression. She may not necessarily complain of
feeling depressed or emotionally upset, but she nevertheless gives evidence of
being disposed to affective malaise that interferes with her being able to
function effectively. There are additional indicators that her affective problems
may reflect difficulties having in her social adjustment, rather than a marked
disposition to mood disturbance.
She gives evidence of some emotional stress stemming from painful
internalized affects that have a sad and dysphoric quality. In this regard, she
seems particularly reluctant or even fearful of expressing her feelings openly.
The extent to which she internalizes, rather than expresses, affect constitutes a
maladaptive emotional blockage. She is probably painfully aware of having
many more feelings than she can make to others. Such constriction
can at times result in bottled up affect being channeled into somatic equivalents.
In addition and as indicated in the above narratives, situation-related stress is
making considerably more demands on her adaptive capacities than she
ordinarily is required or accustomed to confront. This excess situational stress is
being imposed on a pre-existing chronic stimulus overload, presently resulting
in substantial impairment of her capacities for self-control and creating a
marked proclivity for impulsiveness in what she thinks, says, and/or does. She
seems in particular to be worried about being helpless in the face of
circumstances in which other people and events outside her control will
determine what happens to her. Particularly significant in this regard is an
increased potential for impulsive losses of control over the feelings she
expresses and the actions she takes.

Stability of Profile
Given her age, some changes in personality are likely over the next few
years. This profile should be understood chiefly as a guide to what the
individual is like today.
The above test result contains it-formation that can aid in making
decisions regarding her psychological wellbeing, and capacity to comply with
schoolrelated responsibüiües. Since everyone has strengths and weaknesses, it
is important that this report be viewed in its entirety. Specific statements
should not be considered in isolation and/or overemphasbed, but considered
as a reflecting a part of her abüity to assume the responsibüities both as a
student and a member of the famüy.
This test result is valid for six months and shall be used for profiling
purpose only.
