Introduction
A linear accelerator (LINAC) is a cancer treatment machine. It is
most frequently utilized in external beam radiation therapy. Linac
works by accelerating electrons to send high-energy x-rays to a
patient's tumor.

Working principle
Linac uses microwave technology to accelerate electrons in the
accelerator's "wave guide," which then collides with a heavy metal
target to produce high-energy x-rays. As they exit the machine,
these high-energy x-rays are modified to fit the shape of the
patient's tumor, and the customized beam is directed to the
patient's tumor. A multileaf collimator included within the machine's
head and a flatting filter are typically used to shape the beam. The
beam emerges from a section of the accelerator known as a
gantry, which could be rotated around the patient.
