Tronair towbars/heads must only be used with matching Tronair heads/towbars, and Tronair shear pins.
This product can not be modified without the written approval of Tronair, Inc. Any modifications done without written approval
voids all warranties and releases Tronair, Inc., it suppliers, distributors, employees, or financial institutions from any liability
from consequences that may occur. Only Tronair OEM replacement parts shall be used.
1.0 DESCRIPTION
The Tronair Model 01-1207-0010 Custom Towbar is designed for towing DC-10, L1011, 767, 787, A330/A340, and MD11
aircraft.
2.0 PREPARATION FOR USE

The Tronair Model 01-1207-0010 Custom Towbar is designed for towing DC-10, L1011, 767, 787, A330/A340, and MD11
aircraft. The towbar has been lubricated and adjusted at the factory and no additional preparation is required. A general
inspection should be made to determine if any damage was sustained in transit. If any damage was sustained the
transportation company should be notified.
3.0 OPERATION
Maximum towing speed of 10 mph
3.1 AIRCRAFT ATTACHMENT

WARNING!
A damaged or bent towbar should not be used. Towbar should be repaired or replaced.
CAUTION!
The operator shall connect the towbar to the aircraft first, and then connect to the tug to avoid possible
aircraft damage.
1. Align the towbar with the aircraft centerline, directly in front of the nose landing gear.
2. Disconnect the towbar from the tow tractor.
3. Manually operating the pump will increase the pressure in the hydraulic system, thereby raising the aircraft end of the
towbar, including the head assembly. Opening the hand pump selector valve will lower the towbar.
4. Manually adjust the towbar head assembly until it is directly in contact with the aircraft tow fitting.
5. Remove ball detent pin.
6. Lift lever back, this opens the head.
7. Manipulate the head assembly until the aircraft tow fitting is connected.
8. Close the head by pressing the lever back down.
9. Replace the ball detent pin to lock the head in the closed position
4.0 TRAINING
4.1 TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employer of the operator is responsible for providing a training program sufficient for the safe operation of the towbar.
4.2 TRAINING PROGRAM

Employer provided operator training program should cover safety procedures concerning use of towbar in and around aircraft
at servicing location.
4.3 OPERATOR TRAINING

Operator training should provide required training for safe operation of towbar.
NOTE: Maintenance and Trouble Shooting are to be performed by skilled and trained technician.

5.0 MAINTENANCE
5.1 INSPECTION
To ensure efficient and reliable operation, the towbar must be maintained through regular preventive maintenance practices.
These practices include inspection, cleaning, and lubrication. All preventive maintenance must be performed at least once
every six months. The manufacturer recommends more frequent maintenance in conditions of heavy service or extreme
weather. Replace any parts that do not meet inspection standards and cannot be repaired in the field.
Every six months:

1. Clean towbar assembly
2. Inspect all parts for dirt and signs of wear or damage, replace parts as necessary
3. Inspect all structural members for distortion, breaks, cracks, or other signs of damage, replace parts as necessary
4. Check shear bolts by turning heads with a hand wrench, any binding indicates a partially sheared bolt, replace as
necessary
5. Grease the axle lift pivots (grease zerks are provided)
6. Check hydraulic hand pump for proper operation and adequate oil level, add oil (ATF fluid) as necessary
7. Insure tire pressure is at 24 psi
8. Inspect lunette ring for excessive wear, measured at thinnest point, ring cross sections should be no less than 1.25 in,
replace as necessary
9. If so equipped, inspect lunette and head retention bolt cushions for cracking, replace as necessary
10. Ensure the wheels can rotate freely. Check wheel bearings for excessive play or binding, there should be no lateral or
axial movement
11. Inspect the painting and plating for cuts or chips and repair as required
Annually:
1. Wheels should be removed and hub bearings repacked with grease
2. Remove towing eye and inspect roll pin for wear, replace as necessary
5.1.1 Cleaning
1. Clean complete assembly with mild detergent solution, followed by clean water rinse
2. Dry all parts using clean cloth or low pressure compressed air
5.1.2 Lubrication
1. Every 6 months grease the axle lift pivots.
2. Annually remove wheels and repack hub bearings with grease.
6.0 SHIPPING
The towbar may be shipped by any preferred method without special preparation. Secure with suitable tie downs at each end
and chock the tires. Do not tie down the head assembly, as shipping damage many result. Place straps only over the towbar
body, undercarriage, or through the eye.
7.0 STORAGE
The towbar assembly requires no special storage treatment, as it has been suitably protected from normal environmental
deterioration, For long-term storage, the unit should be stored in a humidity controlled environment, Block the towbar body to
remove weight from the tires.

9.0 GUARANTEES/LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

Tronair products are warranted to be free of manufacturing or material defects for a period of one year after shipment to the
original customer. This is solely limited to the repair or replacement of defective components. This warranty does not cover the
following items:
a) Parts required for normal maintenance
b) Parts covered by a component manufacturers warranty
c) Replacement parts have a 90-day warranty from date of shipment
If you have a problem that may require service, contact Tronair immediately. Do not attempt to repair or disassemble a product
without first contacting Tronair, any action may affect warranty coverage. When you contact Tronair be prepared to provide the
following information:
a) Product Model Number
b) Product Serial Number
c) Description of the problem
If warranty coverage is approved, either replacement parts will be sent or the product will have to be returned to Tronair for
repairs. If the product is to be returned, a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number will be issued for reference purposes
on any shipping documents. Failure to obtain a RMA in advance of returning an item will result in a service fee. A decision on
the extent of warranty coverage on returned products is reserved pending inspection at Tronair. Any shipments to Tronair must
be shipped freight prepaid. Freight costs on shipments to customers will be paid by Tronair on any warranty claims only. Any
unauthorized modification of the Tronair products or use of the Tronair products in violation of cautions and warnings in any
manual (including updates) or safety bulletins published or delivered by Tronair will immediately void any warranty, express or
implied.
The obligations of Tronair expressly stated herein are in lieu of all other warranties or conditions expressed or implied. Any
unauthorized modification of the Tronair products or use of the Tronair products in violations of cautions and
warnings in any manual (including updates) or safety bulletins published or delivered by Tronair will immediately
void any warranty, express or implied and Tronair disclaims any and all liability for injury (WITHOUT LIMITATION and
including DEATH), loss or damage arising from or relating to such misuse.
