Class:11/A Number:463 What is Jdm? • JDM means “Japanese Domestic Market”. Why Are JDM Cars Made Differently? •As we all know, there are horsepower and speed races between automobile manufacturers almost all over the world. For this reason, brands are trying to produce models with faster and more powerful engines every day. However, this was not the case in Japan until the mid- 90s. More precisely, the Japanese Automotive Manufacturers Association does not want to enter this race and agrees to put upper limits on both horsepower and speed for car models. In line with this agreement, cars to be produced for the domestic market must not exceed 276 horsepower and a maximum speed of 180 km/h. There are three main reasons behind this agreement: •The budget allocated to the maximum speed race can be preserved and transferred to foreign market investments. •Avoiding unnecessary speed racing.
•Keeping Japan's roads safe
