At 85 km/h, 40% of a vehicle's fuel goes on overcoming air

The flagship model in the new IVECO STRALIS r ange is the
HI-WAY, for long-distance missions. The high roof ver sion has
an inter nal height of about 2 metres and a volume of over 10 m 3 .
The quality of the materials and the wealth of fittings
a nd equipment place this cab at the top of its class in t er ms
of intr insic and residual value .

The inter ior s have been completely redesigned. The ne w


dashboa rd is ergonomic a nd f unctional, made with the
utmost attention to de tail, using non-reflective and soft-touch
mater ials (with the same surface finishes as the best quality car s).
The controls have been repositioned around the dashboard
and centr al area so as to be easily visible and accessible without

steer ing wheel has integr ated telephone controls and features a
pneumatic adjustment system, and the new heated and ventilated

insulation in the cab, already amongst the most efficient on the
mar ket, has been fur ther improved to reduce inter nal noise by
another decibel.

In the sleeping area there is a new HI-COMFORT bed, a lower


bunk, 80 cm wide and over 2 m long, with wooden slats, a super-
comfor table mattress and a reclina ble backrest, ideal for
shor t stops. As an alter native , there is a stowa ble bunk that
folds in the centre and tur ns into a handy table . The top bunk is
easy to open thanks to the air-spr ung opening system, and folds
away completely into the back wall, making the cab even more
spacious.

The use of space in the NEW STRALIS EURO VI cab is


extremely well org a nised. The dra wers a nd stora ge
compa rtments for documents, bottles, maps and tools have
been increased in both number and size . Now there are more
than 30 of them (more than any other competitor). The total
capacity is 30 litres more than the previous model. The cab also

accessible from both inside and outside . Another two exter nal

The cabs in the new STRALIS r ange have been upgr aded and
enhanced. The wor king environments have been “tailored” to
the kind of vehicle mi ssion and the needs of the dr iver. The

On vehicles equipped with IVECONNECT, specific functions are


available for professionals and fleets, such as the Assista nce
Non-Stop service , accessible with a simple touch of the
screen. THE IVECO CUSTOMER CENTRE automatically receives
the vehicle's data, GPS position and er ror codes from the
vehicle control unit, making it possible to provide r apid and
effective ser vice . No fleet management contr act is needed for
the Non-Stop Assistance function, just the interface device . The

The solutions adopted on the Ecostr alis to improve fuel efficiency


are available on the NEW STRALIS EURO VI. These consist of a
specific set of technological applications that can deliver a 7.32%
fuel saving, (as cer tified by the TUV in August 2010). This saving
is fur ther improved by the new EURO VI engines and vehicle
aerodynamics, offer ing an additional savings of 2.33% (cer tified
by the TÜV in October 2013). The Str alis Efficiency Package
adds fur ther savings of 2% given the introduction of cer tain
enhancements: Eco-Roll available with automatic tr ansmission,
enha nced thermal control of the engine and the use
of an innovative low-viscosity motor oil. All this combined with
the DSE (Dr iving Style Evaluation) allow for savings that
top 11%. Additional focus goes to maintenance costs as the
replacement inter vals of the par ticulate filter (DPF) now is 600
thousa nd km rather tha n 450 thousa nd for Cur sor 11
and 13 engines, classifying IVECO as “best in class” for this
technology.

The NEW STRALIS EURO VI engines can be combined with manual


tr ansmissions at 9 or 16 speeds, both fitted with the "ser vo-
shift” system for faster and more precise gear shifts. Star ting
with the Euro VI, all manual tr ansmissions will be equipped with
the "single-H” tr ansmission.
The EUROTRONIC ZF a utomated gea r box with 12
speeds and with electronic clutch control br ings both comfor t
and savings. The change d automated logic:
Selects the ideal gear on the basis of economic dr iving
pr inciples
Protects the engine against over-revving
Reduces clutch wear, giving benefit on maintenance inter vals.
On request, the automated gearboxes can be fitted with an
INTARDER hydrodynamic retarder, which improves br aking
effectiveness and reduces consumption of br ake fr iction mater ial.
The NEW STRALIS HI-STREET and HI-ROAD can be fitted with
the Allison 3200 a utomatic gea rbox. This gearbox with
torque conver ter is the ideal tr ansmission for "stop and go”
wor k, such as urban distr ibution or local municipal ser vices.

H I - R E L I A B I L I T Y The wide r ange of axle drive ratios (from 2.64 to 6.17)
makes it possible to choose the best solution for the type of
tr anspor t: longer r atios for motorway tr avel and shor ter r atios
for more demanding missions where greater tr action is required
(such as on mountain roads).
The sta nda rd rea r axles are of the single reduction type ,
with differential locks and maximum per missible locks of up to
13 tonnes. To complete the r ange , there are vehicles with three
or four fixed or lifting axles, r igid or self-steer ing axles and axles
with single or twin wheels.
The front axle allows a steer ing angle of 52°, a great advantage
in urban distr ibution wor k.
The fra mes on the NEW STRALIS EURO VI are manufactured
with rolled steel double-bottleneck side member s, with C-section.
The fr ame thickness is 6.7 mm for road tr avel, increased to
7.7 mm for arduous dr iving conditions. To facilitate vehicle
configur ability, the upper surface of the fr ame is flat and
obstacle-free , and a wide r ange of wheelbases and configur able
body lengths are available .
The NEW STRALIS EURO VI is adaptable to all kinds o f use
thanks to its wide r ange of available mecha nical a nd a ir
suspension systems. Rear air suspension systems are available
for the entire r ange , with 4 air spr ings and EC AS automated
position control (Electronically-Controlled Air Suspension).
EC AS makes it possible to:
keep the height of the fr ame constant while dr iving
r aise and lower the fr ame quickly for loading and unloading
memor ise the different levels to speed up height adjustment
manoeuvres.
To tr anspor t high volumes and fit swap bodies with specific air
suspensions.
In order to improve the long-ter m protection of metal surfaces,
the thickness of the cataphoresis of the cab has been increased
by 30% and an anti-abr asion and cor rosion treatment with
Tectyl ® on the bottom of the chassis is available on reques t.
