Use Case Statement:

“XYZ Company is implementing a bonus plan to recognize high-performing employees based on


specific achievements, including meeting project deadlines and exceeding sales targets. Eligibility
criteria encompass tenure and clearly defined performance standards. The transparent bonus
calculation entails $10,000 for full-time employees, $17,000 for management positions, and $2,000
for part-time employees. Distribution is scheduled for the end of July, exclusively for employees in the
USA and Canada.”

Understanding:

Client has shared high level requirements so the first task I had to perform to Analyse the requirements
and to being with I have to breakdown Requirements into multiple Chunks.

Full Time Employee: 10k

Part Time Employee: 2K

Management Position: 17K

Eligibility Rule: For US and Canada

From the requirement I have found the Target bonus Amount and Bonus Profile.

Now, I had to use Requirement gathering Template to gather requirements from Client. In order to do
so I read all the questions approx. 62 and tried to understood it. Few of them understood so I wrote
these questions and went in the meeting with client

Based on our discussions, client was requested to Provide the " Individual and Company performance
Factors "

Based on this question answer session I tried to fill the maximum information in Requirement
gathering document template. Later the day client shared the individual and company performance
Parameters.

From my understanding, it was obvious that My bonus plan will Include a Multifactor Compensation
Matrix. Following are the Individual and company performance factor.
Now, before jumping into WD tenant I needed more information to concreate my understanding and
validating my approach. So, I decided to arrange another session with client.

Since I have gathered the requirement yesterday Maximum. Now I filled the remaining questions
answer based on the information we have extracted from client.

It was time start filling out bonus Configuration Document based on the Requirement Elicitation
Document to create the bonus plan in Workday Tenant. My bonus plan includes a factor which I know
very little about … and that is Compensation Matrix. Bilal has given my Performance Review Rating
and I need to incorporate them into the system.
Well, I have started the configuration. I have named the plan “GMS B Bonus Plan Beta”. Since I have
amount base plan, I have chosen to the compensation element One Time payment Amount.

I don’t see any FTE requirement mentioned by the Client which is why I will leave it unselected. I have
selected the Rounding up rule close to near one.

Now I have to create an eligibility rule, and upon analysing the requirement I think location-based
Eligibility rule should be Applied. Location = US or Canada. I have created the rule now I am pulling it
up into the plan. After applying the Eligibility rule, I have started work on Bonus Profiles. In my plan I
have three bonus profiles.

Now I need create compensation matrix for each of the bonus profile. Now I am stuck here. I am trying
to find out the solution.

I will try again tomorrow.

I am just about to finish my day finish my day and I find it a very productive day. as yesterday I was
stuck in compensation Matrix which was vital to configure as part of Client multiple profile bonus plan.

I have watched the Abbas’s Recorded Videos on profiles and I referred back to Administration Guide
to learn more about the compensation matrix. And I am confident that I have figured out it.

Now jumping into Configuration of Bonus plan.

I have searched for the task in workday “Create Bonus Plan” I have entered the effective date 1-1-
1900, as my bonus requirement has no percentage bonus profile. So, my bonus will be Amount based.
I have made my plan Inactive so I don’t effective the Zeiss6 Tenant. So, Eligibility rule I create with the
task of “Create compensation Eligibility Rule” I have Applied the condition of Location and now I am
added it into bonus plan.

Now my next job is to create the bonus profile. As I have 3 different Target bonus 17k ,10k, 2k so I will
create an eligibility rule for all of the profile independently. I have selected the Executive population,
Full time or regular Employee Population and Part time employees for bonus plan.

I have added these bonus eligibility rules of bonus profile. Now I have to select multi factor
compensation matrix. I have created a weighted compensation matrix entering the values for lower
and higher same to avoid any ambiguity for the manager.

I had to convert the values to percentage as we have selected the Weighted bonus plan.

Now it’s time to select the weightage of Individual and company bonus profile.

I have created two bonus factor Individual and Company Weighted as 70 and 30 percent respectively.
And compensation grid selected in Individual performance.

Since I cannot launch the plan, I will show my configuration to Anum for the Feedback.

After Researching and Learning about the Compensations Matrix, I have finally able to create with
multi factor having weightage of 70% /30%. Initially I tried to create 3 different bonus plans for 3
different bonus profiles as I assumed it was a 1 to 1 relationship but later, we realized after researching
that it could all fit in one plan if we select the weighted matrix and convert the individual amount to
percentage.

And finally, it worked. I have made one compensation matrix, one bonus plan to execute all the
requirement given by the client.

I demonstrated the requirement to client and he was satisfied with the plan configuration.
