COURSE OBJECTIVE:

This course is designed to enhance the students’ knowledge of the fundamental


principles and concepts covered in the core Principles of Finance course.

Students will learn the decision making function of Corporate Finance and have the
requisite skills to comprehend and analyze:

* DCF Valuation
* Capital Structure Theory and WACC
* Structure and Functions of the Financial Markets
* Risk/return of Financial Leverage
* Working Capital and the Financing Decision
* Capital Budget evaluation, adjustment, and decision making
* Internal vs. External Sources of Long-term Financing
* Dividend Policy

COURSE MATERIALS:

Required: Foundations of Financial Management,


Block/Hirt, Irwin Press

Additional readings may be recommended during the course. Details will be announced
periodically in class.

FINAL REPORT:

Each student is responsible for one report in this course.


The student will select one topic from a chapter in the textbook.
The topic must be approved in advance by the professor.

The Interim Report (brief table of contents type outline).


This report should provide a clear and concise explanation for the direction of
the final report.

Final Report and


Class Presentation begin on the last week of class.

You are hereby given a 16 week notice. No late reports will be accepted.

The Final Report will be graded upon the following:

1. Originality - the report must include your personal viewpoint/analysis that


originate from your own brains.

2. 10 – 15 minutes professional power point presentation in class. Reading the


report verbatim or not making the presentation will be deducted 30 points.

3. Minimum fifteen page (double-spaced) paper graded upon:

a. Analysis and research of the issue(s)


b. Personal viewpoints, comments
c. Conclusion based on the analysis and research
d. References cited in a footnote format,
with bibliography.
4. Approved Interim Report must be attached to the Final Report or you will be
deducted 20 points.
