Heather
Heather
RYAN
Don't worry. She'll come around.
DARA
That's what you said last night.
RYAN
She's always like this until she
gets...
DARA
I'm gonna go talk to her.
RYAN
(mildly alarmed)
And tell her what?
DARA
The truth. I've got Bree waiting
for me. She doesn't need to worry
about me making a move on her man.
RYAN
Alright. Let's see what you can do.
But don't fuck it up.
DARA
Don't worry. I know what I'm doing.
DARA
Hey, Heather?
HEATHER (O.S.)
You still around?
DARA
We need to talk.
HEATHER (O.S.)
About what?
33.
DARA
Something you need to know. Put the
coke away and come out here.
The stall door opens, and Heather steps out. She's been
crying.
HEATHER
Well?
DARA
Ryan's gonna rob you. He's trying
to get me in on some plan he's got.
HEATHER
That's the best you can do?
DARA
Look, bitch, I'm trying to do you a
favour here. I'm gone no matter
what. I don't want anything more to
do with either one of you. And if
you're smart, you won't have anything
more to do with him.
Heather smirks.
HEATHER
So you can have him all to yourself
and...
DARA
Do you have a trust fund that pays
out twenty grand a month?
DARA
I don't know, but he does. And he's
got a gun.
HEATHER
I'm calling the cops.
She digs her cell out of her purse and flips it open.
DARA
Hey, slow up. You don't need to
bring the cops into this.
34.
HEATHER
Are you kidding? I think they'll be
very interested to hear what you
just told me.
DARA
They're not gonna hear it from me.
I'm not talking to any cops. I can't.
I skipped parole yesterday.
HEATHER
Really?
DARA
Yea. Really.
DARA (CONT'D)
It'll be your word against his, and
nothing's gonna come of it. Except
he'll be pissed off, and you'll still
be stuck with him and his gun.
HEATHER
Then what am I supposed to do?
DARA
He thinks I'm trying to convince you
to let me ride with you. Go out
there and tell him it's not gonna
happen. You leave with him and lose
him the first chance you get.
HEATHER
So I take a guy who wants to rob me
and his gun for a ride. Great.
DARA
Then march out there and take off in
the car.
HEATHER
What about you?
DARA
I'll tell him I didn't do a very
good job of convincing you.
HEATHER
Why are you doing this?
35.
DARA
I don't know. It's the right thing
to do, and I don't wanna see anyone
else get hurt.
HEATHER
Well, I'm not leaving you here. Not
after what you've just done for me.
With him out there.
DARA
It's okay. I can take care of myself.
HEATHER
"Look, bitch, I'm trying to do you a
favour here".
Dara smiles.
HEATHER (CONT'D)
You're heading to Vancouver, right?
DARA
Trying.
HEATHER
I live there. We'll drive together.
I owe you at least that.
DARA
What about Calgary?
HEATHER
That was Ryan's idea. At this point,
all I want is to get home.
DARA
So what's the plan? We run past him
and take off in the car?
HEATHER
You got a better one?
DARA
Not really.
HEATHER
Fuck!
36.
DARA
What?
HEATHER
End Sc.1 I left the car keys on the table.
RYAN
How'd that go?
DARA
She's had a change of heart.
RYAN
(grins)
Really?
DARA
We bonded.
RYAN
Siddown. Tell me how it played.
DARA
I need the keys. She wants me to
grab a tampon out of her suitcase.
RYAN
You got some chops there, kiddo.
You and me together, this is gonna
work out.
Dara smiles at him then heads for the door.
Dara jumps behind the wheel, starts it up, backs out and
drives past the front windows of the restaurant. It's hard
to tell with the sun, but Ryan might have seen her.
42.
Sc.2 start EXT. SMALL TOWN MAIN DRAG -- NIGHT
DARA
That place a couple blocks back
looked open.
HEATHER
I need you to do me a favour first.
She digs her wallet out of her purse and finds a piece of
paper.
DARA
What kind of favour?
HEATHER
I need you to fill this prescription
for me.
DARA
What's it for?
HEATHER
Morphine.
DARA
I'm sorry, but...
HEATHER
It's easy. Say you're driving cross
country with your dying mother and
she's run out of her prescription.
DARA
That won't work for morphine. No
way.
HEATHER
I know it will because it happened
to me when my mother was still alive.
This is her prescription.
HEATHER (CONT'D)
There's one refill left on it.
43.
DARA
Then I think you should do it. I
can't risk...
HEATHER
I can't do it. Look at me.
HEATHER (CONT'D)
I look like a junkie. They'll never
believe it. You look healthy.
They'll believe you.
DARA
Dressed like this?
HEATHER
I'll give you some of my clothes.
You can change over at that gas
station.
DARA
They'll ask for ID.
HEATHER
You can show them my credit cards.
I'll give you my purse.
HEATHER (CONT'D)
I'm asking you to please do me this
favour. I need something to take
the edge off. Then we can drive
straight through to Vancouver. We'll
be there by...
DARA
I'm sorry, Heather, but...
HEATHER
You fucking owe me. I'm driving you
to Vancouver.
DARA
And I saved your ass from Ryan.
HEATHER
So that's how it is, huh?
DARA
Yea, I guess so.
HEATHER
Then get the fuck out of my car.
DARA
Alright.
She pulls the door latch, throws open the door and puts a
foot out.
HEATHER
I'll give you five hundred dollars.
HEATHER (CONT'D)
I thought that might get your
attention.
DARA
Up front?
HEATHER
I don't have it on me, but I can get
it as soon as we're done here. You
trust me that much, don't you? It's
really not much money to me.
DARA
What if it doesn't work out in there?
HEATHER
End Sc.2 Then you don't get paid.
The door opens, and Male Cop pops his head in.
MALE COP
You taking a bath in there or what?
DARA
Sorry.
MALE COP
Your mother's on the phone.
