成程の理は八方と言う。

と、大き心を持ってくれ。······
さあ/\皆んなそれ/\伝える処は一つの理、同じ理に諭しあ
りたと、互い/\話し合うて、いつ/\一つの理の話とも言う。

Whatever kind of day comes to pass, remember that this is the


place where the world’s people take it upon themselves to assem-
ble. It is the Home of the Parent, I tell you.1

There is no telling what kind of wind will blow, what kind of


rain will fall, or when these will occur. Whatever path you may
be on, rain and wind can present difficulty for you.2

February 14, 1894, night*

The truth that convinces others will spread in all directions.3

March 5, 1894, 12:00 midnight*

What is painful is a knot, yet buds sprout from knots. Have a spa-
cious mind that allows you to accept your pain as a knot and a
source of delight.4. . .
Sah, sah, all directions I give are one in truth. You were all
given the same truth. Discuss it among yourselves. The one truth
is eternal.5

蝶や花のようと言うて育てる中、蝶や花と言うも息一筋が蝶や
花である。これより一つの理は無い程に。

いつ/\まで渡る、続く理、この身置こう。安心。悔やむ理は更に
無い程に。尽した理はこれである程に。

明治二十七年五月三十一日

いんねんという理を聞き分け。しようと思うて成るやない。しよう
まいと思うても成って来るのが、いんねんの理と言う。

皆々談じ合うてすれば、どんな事でも出来て来る。

You may bring up your children with the utmost care and affec-
tion. No matter how much care and affection you might lavish
upon them, however, they could not even be alive were it not for
breath. The providence of breath alone is the one truth.6

May 28, 1894*

Truth will continue; it will endure for all time. This body is to be
let go. Set your mind at ease. There is no need to be sad. The
truth of his service will always endure.7

May 31, 1894*

Listen and understand this truth called causality. Even if you try
to cause something to happen, it may not happen. Even if you try
not to let something happen, it may happen. Such is the truth of
causality, I say.8

If you would all discuss things with one another, you could ac-

早く/\それ/\皆んな早く/\の心に成って、何でも彼でも
治めにゃならん、治まらにゃならん。

さあ/\早く/\、皆々つとめと言う。治め方のつとめと言う。早
く急ぐ/\。

明治二十七年九月二日 補遺
遂に千日という理聞き分け。千日難しい。千日経ったら、誰に気
兼ねは無き。

明治二十七年九月二十四日
成るもいんねん、成らんもいんねん。何ぼしようと思うても成らせ
ん、又、しようまいと思うても成りて来るが、これいんねん。

to settle the differences.

the Service so as to bring about the settlement of differences—
quickly, quickly.11

You must comprehend the truth of a thousand days. A thousand


days of the path is difficult. After one thousand days, you need to
defer to no one.12

It is causality that causes your wish to be fulfilled or unfulfilled.


Your wish, however strong it may be, will never be fulfilled if
your causality does not allow it, and, on the other hand, some
things which you have not wished at all may come to you due to
your causality.13

小さい事思てはならん。年限だん/\重なれば、八町四方に成
る事分からん。この道誰に大儀してくれと言うたでなし、どうして
くれと頼んだでなし、誰に賛成してくれと言うたて出けやせん。皆
あたゑ無しに出けやせん。あちら眺めば兄弟、こちら眺めば兄弟。
皆心あれば皆治まりて来る。
······三年千日の辛抱、三年辛抱の道通れば、誰に遠慮気兼は
無い。

明治二十七年十二月十二日 夜二時半

暖い中に居れば暖いもの、寒い中に居れば寒いもの。この暖い
寒いの理を聞き分けず、銘々心の理を働かす処、身の障りの台
である。これから悟れ。銘々思わく思うも、めん/\思わくを立て
るも、暖味水気があればこそ。

November 17, 1894, night †


It will not do to think of small things. You do not understand that
when the years accumulate step by step, this place will become
eight cho square.14 About this path, I have never told anyone to
do anything on a grand scale or asked anyone to do anything in
particular. Things do not get done by asking people to agree to
them. Without sincerity, nothing gets done. Looking in that di-
rection, I see brothers and sisters. Looking this way, I see bro-
thers and sisters. All will settle if you have a mind to let it settle.15
. . . If you persevere for three years, one thousand days, then
you will need to defer to no one.16

When you are in a warm place, you feel warm. When you are in
a cold place, you feel cold. Instead of understanding this truth of
“warm and cold,” you let your own mind’s truths work—this is
the basis of the disorders of the body. From this, try to under-
stand. Only because there is warmth and moisture are you able to
think your thoughts and have your own expectations in the first
place.17, 18
