1. Assessment statement using Biopsychosocial Spiritual Approach

Kakai was raised by two loving adoptive parents who treated her as their own. However, their
untimely deaths led her to feeling as if God was selfish as He took her parents around the same time even
if she asked Him to give her father a longer life. Maricel also believes that it is plausible that Annabelle,
an aswang, was the culprit for her father’s death. This ultimately led her to completely lose her faith in
God. Kakai also often dreamt about her parents visiting her in her dreams. However, the dreams
progressed to become aggressive unlike when the first dreams began to occur. Kakai has also shown signs
of trauma regarding her uncle’s sexual abuse towards her- exhibited by her lack of appetite in SDC when
she was served hotdogs everyday, stating that she was reminded of her uncle everytime.

Upon being admitted to CRIBS, Kakai has shown eagerness to learn how to pray the rosary and
to copy prayers into her notebook. Hence, she began to regain her trust in God despite her past
experiences. She has also gone to confession and had visits with the priest in her time in CRIBS. The
psychologist suggested for Kakai to pray the rosary with the other girls to help her feel less scared to go to
sleep and to dream of her parents.

CRIBS is the main provider to Kakai as of the moment where she is able to build her relationship
with God with the help of the other girls and the psychologist in the foundation. In case Kakai’s problem
is not immediately dealt with by the foundation, Kakai is at risk of not getting past the trauma from her
tito and cousin’s past sexual advances on her. There is a need to protect Kakai from the threats of her
abusers.

2. Assessment statement using Person-in-Environment Approach

Kakai is a teenager who currently stays in CRIBS Foundation Inc. She was referred to the
foundation due to her experience of being sexually molested by her uncle Chris Lopes and cousin,
Christian Lopes.

Maricel has shown great strength in finally telling her teacher of the advances of her uncle despite
her fear of being accused of lying by her aunt and her uncle, himself. She temporarily stayed with her
classmate but had to leave due to the threats coming from her uncle. When she was referred to CRIBS,
she showed a great deal of responsibility and initiative over her tasks in the foundation and in school. She
also actively shares information, feelings, and aspirations with the worker and her psychologist which
exhibits her eagerness to change and to heal from her trauma in search for a better life by finishing her
education and obtaining a good job in the future.

CRIBS is the current main provider to Kakai where she is able to access a safe place where she
can finish her education and access to the services of the worker and the psychologist. She is also
surrounded by peers whom she has created a bond with and whom she trusts. Her peers along with the
services CRIBS makes available will help Kakai heal from her experiences in the past.

However, if the foundation is not able to provide what Kakai needs, she may resort to leaving the
foundation and getting involved with the wrong peers. Her control over her emotions and actions may
diminish as time passes where she is not able to heal from her trauma as a child. She may live on the
streets and expose herself to dangerous situations and engage in activities that pose a risk to her health
and her life.

3. Assessment statement using Child’s Rights Perspective

Kakai needs to stay in a secure place which would protect her rights as a child to allow her to
continue her schooling. She was referred to CRIBS foundation by SDC in order to escape her uncle’s and
cousin’s sexual abuse towards her.

Kakai was a hardworking daughter who helped her mother sell fish and accompanied her father at
sea in the past. She also actively and responsibly participates in activities in school and shows initiative in
accomplishing the assigned tasks in the foundation. She is currently motivated to work hard in school in
order to attain her goals of becoming a soldier one day. Furthermore, Kakai shows a great change
potential through her emotional availability and openness to the worker, her knowledge on what actions
are right and wrong, and her eagerness to regain her trust in God despite what she has experienced in the
past. The change potential also seems bright as the law is on her side and as CRIBS offers the services
and protection that a child with her experience needs as of the moment.

If Kakai will not be given a secure place to stay in, it is highly possible that she would still be
experiencing sexual molestation from her uncle and her cousin in her house. The emotional and physical
trauma may lead her to engage in activities that would put her life in danger, especially as a young girl.
She may also opt to leave her uncle and aunt and become homeless as the latter threaten the people whom
she stays at when she leaves their home.

4. Assessment statement using Ecological Systems Approach

Kakai lived in Masbate City with her adoptive parents. Their family lived a poor life and she
often worked in order to earn money for her and her family. When they died, she fell into custody of her
aunt Gina and Uncle Chris, who later sexually molested her when she was 14 years old. This resulted in
Kakai rebelling and being thrown out by aunt Gina.

The client has been showing a great deal of strength and responsibility despite her young age. She
has always worked and helped out with the income of the family and she has been performing well and
actively participating in school in spite of the things that she has gone through. Her peers have also been
prone to self-harm but she exhibits strength and maturity when she states that she will never be able to do
that to herself. Aside from this, even if she gets the urge to hurt people sometimes, she is able to control
her actions and resolve conflicts calmly once she isolates and calms herself down unlike other teenagers
her age.
The client shows great change potential as she opens up to the worker about her past and her
emotions during their sessions. She is also accepting of the advice given to her by the worker and the
psychologist in charge of her case. Aside from this, she was able to regain her faith despite losing her
parents and believing that God was selfish beforehand. Before being referred to CRIBS, she also worked
to earn money in order to help her parents and not to be a burden to her friend even if she was not asked
to do so, showing initiative on her part. It is seen in what she has said that she works to make her situation
better- exhibiting a bright change potential.

If her problems are not attended to by the foundation, it is possible that Kakai may go back home
to become abused, if not by uncle Chris or her cousin. She may also escape and not go back home but
decide to engage in dangerous activities and live in the streets to escape sexual molestation and to make a
living.
