Lab: GSM Transmitter Characteristics: Output Power (Mobile Station)

(as per TS 45.005 version 10)

The MS maximum output power and lowest power control level shall be, according to its class, as
defined

in the Table 4.1-1. In this lab, students will verify if the DUT (device under test) conformance to the
specifications given in TS 45.005.

Steps to complete the lab:

1. Change the MNC of the GSM 900 in CMU 200 to a unique 3-digit number such as 003.

2. Use CMU 200, to make a GSM call to the DUT.

3. Use external attenuation to adjust for pathloss using PCL 5 (for 33dBm).

4. Change the PCL in steps and record the measured transmitted power.

5. Prepare a excel sheet with following columns:

Column 1: Band

Column 2: PCL number

Column 3: Nomimal maximum output power

Column 4: measured output power

Column 5: Compute the delta

Column 6: Tolerance for normal condition

Column 7: Tolerance for extreme condition

Column 8: Result (PASS OR FAIL)

6. Repeat steps 2 to 5, for a different GSM band.
