Almost all words have a “part of speech”. Which part of speech a word has depends on how it is used in a
sentence. Here is a list of the eight parts of speech:
Preposition: A preposition is a word that shows the relationship between its object and some other word in a
sentence.
Example: The birds flew through the air. In this example, the word “through” is a preposition because it is
used to show the relationship between word “flew” and its object “the air”.

Example
Jane is waiting for you at the bus stop.

Example
I have a meeting at 9am.
