STANDARD CALIBRATION FOR STEEL RULER AND FLEXIBLE SCALE

AS OF JIS B 7516 REFERNCE STANDARD

1. Check the appearance of the test rule.

2. Both the test rule and the gauge block must be in temperature equilibrium
with the environment of the length laboratory.

3. Place the test rule and the gauge block on the length bench or similar flat surface, parallel
to one another using steel straight edge (not applicable to flexible scale with stopper) in the
reference point.

4. Observe readings from left to right sides of the corresponding graduation of the standard
rule and record the measurement value to the nearest 0.1.

5. Repeat the measurement up to three (3) times; then get the average and the difference of
maximum and minimum.
