QUIZ COMPETITION, 2024
ON
Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 & Family Laws

April11th& 12th, 2024


Preamble
Quiz Warriors, UILS, Department of Clinical Legal Education, UILS, Chandigarh University,
Gharuan, Mohali (India) in pursuance of the vision of the University Institute of Legal Studies,
Chandigarh University
“To impart Legal Education through stimulating young minds on social,
political, legal, psychological issues, art of Legal research, Drafting,
Presentation and Argument Skills.”
Adopts the following Official Rules of the Competition by resolution of Members of the
Organizing Committee:
1. Name of the competition:2nd APJ Abdul Kalam memorial Intra UILS quiz competition,
2024

2. Venue: University Institute of Legal Studies Campus, B-5, Chandigarh University


3. Date: April. 11-12, 2024
4. Subject Matter: Law Quiz Competition
5. Eligibility and Registration:
All the students perusing legal studies in UILS, Chandigarh University, Gharuan, Mohali
are eligible to register for the competition.
Maximum 60 teams on first come first basis will be registered and the list of first 60
teams will be published on notice board after the last date of registration. The listed teams
shall be required to reconfirm their participation and their acceptance of being bound by
the rules of the competition within the time stipulated by the organizing committee

6. Team Composition:
• Each team for the Quiz shall comprise of two members.
• CERTIFICATE OF PARTICIPATION shall be provided to every participant.

7. Language:
The competition shall be conducted in English language only.
8. Details of the Competition Rounds:
This competition is a 4-tier competition.
Round – 1 Written Test (Multiple Choice Question)
This is the qualifying round. All the teams will be given 50 MCQ questions without
negative marks. Each question shall carry 2 marks. Best 15 teams shall be selected from
this round on the basis of highest obtained.

Round-2: Quarter Finals


The rounds shall be conducted in 5 rooms simultaneously. In this round, 3 teams in each
room will compete against one other. One team from each room will make to the Semi-
final round. It is clarified that there is only one winner from each room. Total 30
questions will be asked. In case of a tie, there will be tie-breaker round.
Round – 3:Semi- Final Round
This is Semi-final round between selected Top 5 teams from round – 2.
Total 30 questions will be asked. This round is also a Buzzer round.In case of a tie, there
will be tie-breaker round.
Round – 4: Final Round
This a final round consisting of top 3 teams from round-3.
Total 20 questions will be asked. This round again is a buzzer round. In case of tie, there
will be a tie-breaker round.
9. Miscellaneous:
All participants are expected to maintain the decorum throughout the competition and are
expected to conduct themselves in a manner befitting the legal profession.
1. The organizers reserve the right to take appropriate action for any unethical,
unprofessional and immoral conduct.
2. The dress code for the Participants shall be Advocate’s attire. Incase dress code is not
maintained by the team members; 5 marks shall be automatically deducted from the
score of the respective round.
10. Interpretation of Rules:
1. The organizing committee’s decision regards the interpretation of rules or any other
matter related to the competition will be final.
2. If there is any situation, which is not contemplated in the rules, the organizing
committee’s decisionon the same shall be final.
3. The organizers reserve the right to vary, alter, modify, or repeal any of the above rules if
so required and as they deem appropriate.
11. Disputes:
1. The teams seeking participation or participating in the competition shall honor and
respect the spirit of the competition and endeavor top conduct& discipline by
themselves accordingly.
2. In case of any dispute or difficulty arising out of or during the course of the
competition, the organizing committee shall have the sole and absolute authority to
remove such difficulty and resolve the dispute.

12. Force Majure:


The organizers reserve the absolute right to cancel, defer or postpone indefinitely, the
competition in the event of the accruing of any such incident, natural or man caused.
13. Disclaimer:
The organizers shall not be responsible for any dispute arising out of the team selection
process in the UILS. All material in the competition is fictitious and any resemblance to
any incident or person, if any, is not intentional, but merely coincidental.
14. Prizes:
The organizers will award the following prizes:
1) Winners –Certificate with Winning trophy
2) Runner up – Certificate with Runner-up trophy
3) 1st Runner up- Certificate with Runner-up trophy
