Good afternoon teacher and classmates. Today I’m gonna present my ALP about
the Saint Jonh Festival.

A popular festival in our conuntry is the Saint Jonh Fesstival or the party of
san juan. It’s a religious festival that is celebrated in a special way in the
Peruvian Amazon.This celebration has its origins long ago When a group of
missionaries arrived in the jungle and appointed San Juan Bautista as patron
saint of the peruvian amazon. Many families in this part of the country look
forward to this festivity with joy.

It takes place annually in the Peruvian Amazon in June 24 and the people
celebrate this festival attended to rivers or lagoons in the department of San
Martin, Loreto and Ucayali. Also in the provinces of Tingo Maria,
Oxapampa, Chanchamayo and Satipo.

For several days of the month of June, until the central day, different
activities are carried out, dance contests, musical presentations, preparation
and exhibition of typical foods and walks on the banks of the rivers.
The central activities of the festival begin on the night of June 23 when men
and women go to the rivers to purify themselves. many families participate
in religious activities and also accompany the processions along with typical
bands. I don’t belong to the jungle of Peru but most of my close neighbors
come from there. Me and my family accompany them at their parties, they
dance, eat and sing. also in a tree full of gifts
they sing and dance around. I think it is one of my favorite festivals because
I see the joy of the people and the excitement of celebrating a festival from
their native land.
