The Prince and the Pauper

NARRATOR: Once upon a time, there was a prince called Edward. He lived in a castle,
but he didn’t have any friends. One day, Edward saw a poor boy Tom.
PRINCE EDWARD: ‘Come into the castle and play with me!’
TOM: ‘What’s it like to be a prince?’
PRINCE EDWARD: ‘I’ve got an idea!’
NARRATOR: The boys decided to swap clothes.
PRINCE EDWARD: ‘You look like me now!’
TOM: ‘And you look like me!’
NARRATOR: The boys were hungry. Edward went to find some food. He came back, but an
angry servant pushed Edward out of the castle.
PRINCE EDWARD: ‘Stop! I’m the prince!’
NARRATOR: Tom waited and waited.
TOM: Where’s Edward?
NARRATOR: He walked round the castle. But didn’t find his friend. Edward had a terrible
night! In the morning, he came back.
TOM: ‘Prince Edward!’
NARRATOR: At that moment, the queen came in.
THE QUEEN: ‘Edward? What are you doing in those old clothes?’
PRINCE EDWARD: ‘Sorry, Mum,’
TOM: ‘We were playing a game, Your Majesty!’
NARRATOR: They all laughed. After that, Edward and Tom became very good friends.
