In a family dwelling, one receptacle outlet is needed of GFCI protection.
Which of the following choices
i. Basement ii. Attached Garage iii. Detached Garage

A. i B. i and ii C. I, ii, and iii D. iii

According to 2.10.3.3 (g) (shown below) – one receptacle outlet is only needed for basement, attached and detached
garages.

But for GFCI protection, from the three choices, only Garage is needed for GFCI protection

So the answer is I only.

What size of branch circuit is required for a window air-conditioner with a nameplate rating of 8A if the circuit also
supplies other circuit?
A. 17A B. 25A C. 20A D. 15 A
Naa ko nakit.an provisions for room air-conditioners sir kay ni hisgut man og “window”. Mao ni gi based if window aircon ang g
ihisgut.

According sa PEC, given na if no other loads are supplied, the rating of the A/C unit shall not exceed 80% of the branch-circuit
conductor’s ampacity.

But if nay other loads like lighting or receptacle, the rating of the A/C shall not exceed 50% of the branch-circuit conductor’s
ampacity.

So sa question given, what size of branch circuit is required, since dapat dili man mu abot or exceed sa 50% ang ampacity, ang
tan awun nako sir ang choices given niya, I multiply each by 50%.

17 A x 50% = 8.5 A> 8 A of A/C

25 A x 50% = 12.5 A> 8 A of A/C
20 A x 50% = 10 A> 8 A of A/C
15 A x 50% = 7.5 A< 8 A of A/C

So among sa choices, A, B, & C makasud sa category na their ampacity ratings won’t exceed the 8A of the A/C. But if tan awun,
if mu hisgot og lighting or general receptacle load lang, ang usual ana is either 15 A or 20 A. then we already eliminated 15 A since
mulampas na sa 50% rating ang A/C so ang akong ma answer ani kay 20 A since mao man usual na rating in terms sa general
load.

What is the allowable branch circuit protection to a hermetic motor having a rated current of 18 A?
A. 20 B. 25 C. 30 D. 35

I think sir if mu state na gane og hermetic motor kay same rasa mu ingon na hermetic motor compressor kay sa PEC
or even sa NEC wala jud hermetic motor only.

Since, allowable branch circuit protection, OCPD for hermetic ang i base. According to 4.40.3.2 (a), the OCPD shall
not be larger than 175% of the nameplate FLC or branch circuit rating, whichever is larger.

So ang allowable branch circuit protection is, 18 x 1.75 = 31.5 A. Then siguro if based sa Standard Ampere Ratings,
30 A gamiton.

Katong 115% na diay sir is only when the question asked is the disconnecting means for the hermetic.
According sa 4.40.2.2 (a)(1), a CB used as a disconnecting means for a motor-compressor shall be rated at least 115%
of the nameplate FLC or branch circuit selection current, whichever is greater. So if mao to gi ask, the answer could
have been 18 x 1.15= 20.7 A. where standard size is 20 A.
